we are having a boy and my top name was Seth. However I heard Jasper when we were on holiday and I think I have fallen in love with it. Just wondered what other people thought

I also like 'posh' names and this one is particularly lovely. Always best to have a slightly unusual name.

PorkyandBess · 07/09/2012 20:42

I love it and it was on my list.

Lannie33 · 07/09/2012 20:56

Love Jasper. Hate Seth.

In the west country its the name for a wasp. Still remember the broad Somerset accents shouting "Jasss-ppper" whenever one hovered into view.

I know two ginger cats called jasper.

LadyMetroland · 07/09/2012 21:43

Definitely a name for a really posh person, or a dog. You may be quite posh in which case go for it!

Minty82 · 07/09/2012 21:52

I love Seth, not so keen on Jasper; bit too chinos, signet ring and loafers... (plenty of my friends fall into that category, I have to admit, but I prefer names which don't announce it!)

GluttonDressedasLamb · 07/09/2012 23:22

Love it - had a cat called Jasper and he was a real sweetie.

Seth is one of my favourite names, and has the advantage that it can`t be shortened. Nor is it too popular or too unusual.

Badgerina · 08/09/2012 09:15

Prefer Caspar. Don't like Seth. Reminds me of "Sith" (Star Wars fan)

Kafri · 08/09/2012 14:36

I love jasper! My pug is called Jasper, tho I'll admit I named him after the character from twilight. (I'm a geek, sorry)
With twilight so popular at the moment, there are a lot of the characters names increasing in popularity, according to te lists.

AnnaBanananana · 08/09/2012 14:40

I prefer Seth
Jasper is nice though, does remind me of Casper a bit

UmmOfUmbridge · 08/09/2012 15:05

Jasper is a great name! Go for it. I also like Seth.

AndWhenYouGetThere · 08/09/2012 16:49

Seth just nudges into the lead for me - but both are great names.

SheilaWheeler · 08/09/2012 16:51

Sorry, I've got to agree with all the other zummerzet MN clan - jasper is a wasp

Jojay · 08/09/2012 17:03

I've got a Jasper and we've never regretted it for a second. He's nearly 6 now.

Kenworthington · 08/09/2012 17:09

I have a jasper. He is 9, floppy haired, tough, trendy, clever, fast and super kind to animals. It really suits him BUT he is also fairly on the naughty side (and people often say 'what do you expect with a name like jasper?!')

I may be slightly posh though but I dont reckon I'm pretentious!

blondieminx · 08/09/2012 17:13

I like both Seth and Jasper. Seth is less consciously "posey" though...

poppy283 · 09/09/2012 08:29

My Jasper is 4 weeks old tomorrow!

Love the name, it's just right for him already.

I think Seth is too American sounding.

Lolwhut · 09/09/2012 08:41

Seth is a great name and is not going to upset anyone. I actually like Jasper too but it's, maybe, a little out there for me?

fanoftheinvisibleman · 09/09/2012 08:42

I love Seth. I don't have any particularly strong thoughts either way about Jasper but I would just presume you were a Twilight fan.

pickofthepops · 09/09/2012 08:44

Love jasper but Seth leaves me cold

wishingonadream · 09/09/2012 08:48

Have not read or seen any of the Twilight films so had no idea it was a character in them. Thanks for all your views. Wanted to get sme unbiased responses as I know my family is going to hate it.

Really not a fan of Seth it sounds a bit 'lispy' to me.
Prefer Jasper although my first thought was 'wasp'.
