Ines

Hi all,

I have a son called Henry (nn Harry) and if the next baby is a girl want to call her Ines Frances - DH is ok with it but has this thing about needing a nn and of course Ines is pretty short already - any ideas of nick names I can give him to sell this name to him?

I am really keen not to go down the hyper popular name route with a girl - his favourite is Isabelle..hence my reluctance to go with his choice (though dont mind Isabelle)

I love Ines, just as it is, I loved it when pg with DD and my criteria was 'difficult to shorten', not sure it goes with Frances though...

Frances is a family name but not written in stone I suppose - would ideally like a spanish name but not that keen on many unfortunately!!

That is a lovely name. I don't know about nicknames - Nessie? It is vertainly nicer than Isabelle.

Ines is a lovely name. The only one iv met was absolutely stunning so that helps too. Not sure on a nn, really don't think it needs one. Nessie maybe?

Why on earth do you need a nickname? Just call her 'bugsy' or something. Ines is a beautiful name - extremely popular among all the Hispanics I know here on Belgium. I know 4 little Ineses at the moment!

And Frances is lovely too.

I don't think you need a nn necessarily, and you might end up with some cute name the DD gives herself or something the DS calls her.

You could use Francesca instead of Frances and still retain the flavour of the family name if you wanted something more Spanish to go with Ines.

I called my DD Ines and we call her tiny as in tiny iney, sometimes whinney iney!
Occasionally Innie, Innie Winnie and on weekends, Princess Sparkles but that's not related to her name.

I think they sound lovely together. A nickname doesn't need to be a variation of her name.

Lovely name, why would you need a nickname for it? You don't have to give your child a nickname, IMO these are affectionate "handles" that usually come from something in your child's character or the way they look - not something you plan before they are born!

My kids have lots of nicknames, but the two we use most in this house are "Curls" and "Noodles"!
