What do you think of the name Lushe as my baby daughter's name?

What do you think of the name Lushe (silent e) as my baby daughter's name? Plenty of people have the surname Lush so why not have it as a first name? I already have a daughter called Harlowe which caused uproar with the family but has been received well in nursery but I need something just as unusual for my new arrival due in January. This is my first post so please be nice to me...

sirboob i love the name Scout! DS would have been Scout, if he were a girl Grin but Lush is not a nice name OP for the reasons already stated.

Lexi is lovely.

iMoniker and anyone else that wants to join in, what do you think of the name Teal?

Not my personal taste. I like more old fashioned names.

Its less likely to result in the strong negative reactions to Lushe though. Goes well itch Harlowe

With not itch?

I actually quite like Teal...but that may be due to being forced to sit through Cbeebies every morning (Abney and Teal)

Hmmm...what do you think of Abney OP?

Teal for a girl? Not sure. Better for a boy.

What about Asha?

Tethers - I knew a Loveday! she was a nurse in her 50s when I met her.

iMoniker - Just realised what your post meant, I thought you thought the name I had suggested was 'itch' lol. Just thought I'd let you know that I know the teasing and bad words that would be said about itch and so I would never choose that lol! Not if my life depended on it lol!

eddieIzzard - Abney and Teal, my daughter loves it! Think that's where I got Teal from but also know it's a colour. Don;t like Abney.

Thumbwitch - Just out of interest, why Teal for a boy and not a girl?

I'm from the Midlands and not heard of it as anything to do with drink or as a bad word. I love the shop Lush and it sums up what I know the word to mean. I think we all have things that connect to different names. I once said I'd never marry someone with the same name as my brother because they've all been horrible bullies to me, I've been married twice and both had the same name as my brother - first one really was a horrible bully! My husband's nan didn't like our eldest's name before she was born because it had been the name of her ginger bridesmaid (not sure what the ginger has to do with anything) but was dotty over her when she was born.

Jem, I don't think I could tell you! It just sounds more male than female to me.

No, it's terrible. Really quite terrible. Please don't.

What about Alexia nn Lexi? I think it goes nicely with DD1's name.

Would Teal have any nn? Tee?

Harlowe and Teal...yea, its growing on me

Would you have any middle names too?

Just had a look online, it's listed as a girl's name so why not? Or how about Tia?

confuddled - It must be a midlands thing because that's where I'm from and I had never heard Lush in a negative way at all either. Sounds similar family problems with names as we had, care to share your names and the bullies name?

I really like the previous suggestions of Rowan and January to go with Harlowe ( which I think is lovely, btw).

I also like Sunday, Felicity (Lissie for nn) and Araminta (Minty).

Lushe is bad. And I would pronounce it to rhyme with "Touche!", as in fencing/swordfighting Musketeer style.

Thumbwitch - Used to like Tia but, since Tia sharpe it has put me off. Quite like Thea (pronnounced Taya).

EddieIzzard - What do you mean about the nn? I did think about spelling it differently as Thial or with that special silent 'e' at the end? Not a fan of middle names, not for my children and also I like so few names that if I used a middle name I liked then that would be one off the list for my next child lol.

Jaffacake - Alexia, not too bad but Lexi is getting too popular and after the baby on Eastenders being called that it has really put me off.

lushe that's a playboy mansion name
one of hughies playmates
and why the silent e it's ghastly enough without misspelling it

Morethan crack - Sunday is nice, think I must like days of the week and months because I used to like Summer before it became so popular. Thank you for your nice comments on Harlowe, I think it is always going to receive a mixed review but may even become popular as it is something like number 12 in the states for baby girl choices.
