Hi Everyone

My partner and I recently found out we are having a baby girl and after much to-ing and fro-ing we have decided on 'Cara Louise'

What do you all think? We wanted a christian name that couldn't be shortened and that was a bit uncommon but not weird! This is the only one we could agree on so I hope it ticks all boxes!

Thanks

It's lovely, I really like it, well done! We're also having a girl and are really struggling. I know 2 Cara's (in Scotland) one adult, one 10 months. Smile

Lovely names and go really well together :) Great choice!

HappyJustToBe · 31/08/2012 15:25

I like Smile

squoosh · 31/08/2012 16:15

Lovely. It means 'friend' in Irish and 'darling' in Italian.

HiHowAreYou · 31/08/2012 17:23

Cara Louise is lovely. :)

SrirachaGirl · 31/08/2012 17:25

Absolutely lovely Smile.

Love it.

Kayano · 31/08/2012 18:39

Cara is lovely

Louise is a bit 70s/ 80s

Stellan · 31/08/2012 21:00

Cara is a lovely choice although my own tastes incline towards Lara and Clara instead.

Cara Louise sounds nice together too. I'm not sure I'd use Louise as a middle name unless I either really liked it or was naming my child after one - it's a little ubiquitous as a middle name!

All in all, I think you've picked well - a nice name your daughter will be happy to have.

NurseBernard · 31/08/2012 21:13

Lovely. Cara is simple, elegant, timeless - no-one will be able to date her to a particular generation.

Louise was a popular middle name for our generation, but not so much now. They go well together. :)

Lovely Smile I have s Carrie Louise Smile fidn'g really think much about middle name and likd out of a tv soap my midwife was called Louise and hormones made me do it! My daughter gets called Carrie-Lou as her nickname by me and I find it strange when I hear her friends call her Carrie as I just very rarely do!!

peanutMD · 02/09/2012 09:17

this is also my top girls name :)

I know a few Cara's but love the name!

Louise is just getting chucked in as a middle name because DS has DP's first name as middle name and if we have a DD we would like to throw a bit of me in there somewhere but my first name goes with nothing so we will use my middle name instead... Just to be awkward :o

NarkedRaspberry · 02/09/2012 13:01

I like it a lot. I do have a family friend who is known as 'Car' short for Cara though, so it does have a nickname Grin

marjolaine · 02/09/2012 13:55

Lovely name. Love the name Cara (prefer the C to the K spelling, even though I generally prefer the K for other names). Louise is nice, if ubiquitous as a middle.

Uppababy · 02/09/2012 14:12

Thanks everyone for your input.

As PeanutMD said, we are giving this baby my middle name as my 1 year old son has my husbands middle name so there is reason behind the 'Louise' part!

Now just to wait for baby.......!

Cara is lovely - I think it fits perfectly if you want something a bit uncommon but not weird.
