One off my list, one off DHs, both go equally well with the surname. Any preference or prejudice against either of these?

... Of course baby may well be a girl and then we're back to the drawing board... Grin

Jasper all the way!

persephoneplum · 29/08/2012 14:55

Kaspar - I know a gazillion Jaspers and no Kaspars. I do prefer the Casper spelling though.

squoosh · 29/08/2012 14:56

Kaspar is you're a bit Scandi.

Casper is you're not.

Don't like Jasper.

StormGlass · 29/08/2012 14:56

Jasper

suedpantsoffem · 29/08/2012 14:57

K/Casper - the friendly ghost??? You KNOW he'll get called that!

Jasper is miles better, though a bit pretentious imo

GnocchiNineDoors · 29/08/2012 14:57

Caspar (not a K!)

Or Jasper. Neither grab me.

NightmareWalking · 29/08/2012 15:28

Kaspar as in Hauser, not Casper as in ghost for that very reason! seems a pretty even split so far though.

We're really struggling to find anything tbh that we agree on, if only DH would come to his senses and just let me pick the names Smile

  1. Caspar
  2. Casper
  3. Jasper
  4. Kaspar

(if people are going to mention the ghost they'll do it from the sound of the name rather than the spelling IMHO. And no-one will think of the film after a while)

javotte · 29/08/2012 18:36

I love Jasper!

Shybairns · 29/08/2012 18:49

Neither. Both too ponnsy.

Kayano · 29/08/2012 18:50

Caspar

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 29/08/2012 18:51

Prefer kaspar. Mumsnet don't like ks though I'd think it was spelled with a c too!

kawaii · 29/08/2012 19:59

Caspar is great

Badgerina · 30/08/2012 02:29

Caspar.

emmyloo2 · 30/08/2012 05:22

Jasper is fabulous - I love this.

Caspar is also nice.

Kasper or Kaspar looks made up to me...

MrsHelsBels74 · 30/08/2012 05:29

One more vote for Jasper!

tethersend · 30/08/2012 06:25

Kaspar is the eastern European spelling, very popular in Poland. Do you have any links to eastern Europe?

No links To Eastern Europe, I just like that spelling Blush Consensus seems to be against it though!

If you like the spelling go for it. MN are not fond of the letter K in my experience.

I dont mind a K. It is more usual in the UK to spell with a C so as long as you dont mind having to spell it out now and again I dont see the biggy.

DessieLou · 30/08/2012 13:59

I'm afraid I agree with the spelling issue. Definately Caspar not Kaspar. If I'm honest it seems a bit try-hard/chavvy with a K (I am a snob, sorry! Blush). I once met a baby Caspar and it really suited him. Out of the 2 though I would go with Jasper, I love it and I've not met any.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 30/08/2012 14:08

Kaspar is a legitimate spelling though. Its not like she is after calling him

kkkasparrr or somesuch.

DessieLou · 30/08/2012 14:24

I realise that Pickles I just prefer the C spelling. Smile

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 30/08/2012 14:26

Umm you did say it was chavvy though.

NightmareWalking · 30/08/2012 15:38

Could be worse: I could spell it K'as-par. Now that's chavvy. Grin
