Names = hair colour?

Do you associate certain names with a particular hair colour? I just added a comment to the Nina thread and realised for me it is a red-haired name. In this case it's because the only Nina I've known IRL was a red-head, but whenever I hear a name I invariably picture the hair colour I associate with it, based on no logic whatsoever even if I don't know anyone with that name or where I know several people with the same name but of different colouring.

E.g: blond(e) names = Sarah, Olivia, Amelia, Felicity, Karen, Alistair, Charlie, David, Rupert

Brown-haired names = Fiona, Megan, Francesca, Rosalind, Mary, Alexander, Hugo, Paul, Robert

Red-haired names = Nina, Molly, Katarina/Katy (but Catherine/Kitty is blonde), Helen(a) (but Nell is blonde), Sam, Joshua, Jake

Ebony (dark) and Lily (blonde).

I have some expectations from name meanings, but not otherwise eg

Black/dark: Nigel, Nigella, Melanie, Leila
Red: Rufus

I had the idea that my DD would have dark hair, as both of her parents do. So I was thinking up names that suited a chubby dark haired girl. She was born with dark hair but it fell out and is now a strawberry blonde - her name still suits her though I doubt I would have had it on the list if I'd have known she'd be blonde! Weird really.

Interesting, for me Nina is a dark haired name.

My son was dark haired and sallow skinned when he was born so we chose Ciar which means the dark one or swarthy. Then he ended up ablond curly toddler. He is now brown haired at age 11 so maybe he will be dark eventually!

I guess with most names it depends on who you know with that name. Having said that, our short list is full of Scandinavian names which sound quite 'blonde' to me, we are both blonde though so I guess chances are the baby will be too... Will report back

I called my daughter a name that means blonde, even though when she was born she had dark hair. It's now waist-length blonde curls so we were probably right to stick with it, but I wouldn't care if she'd stayed dark. I chose the name because I love the sound of it, not because of its meaning.

I also have these associations.. sounds stupid isn't it?
It is not really the meaning of the name that counts in my case, just the physical characteristics I associate with it. That is how we picked DD's name when she was born. "Blonde? Right, so she's .." That was pretty much it. :o

To me Nina is a mediterranean name and therefore brunette.

Fiona means 'fair' so therefore a blonde name.

Flora, Fiona, Florence all blonde to me.

Melissa, Scarlet, Maria are brunettes

Jessie a red haired name.
