DS is due in October. We really like Toby and Thomas (shortened to Tom for everyday). Last name is one-syllable starting with W.

Would really like a couple more names to add to the list/see what DS looks like when he's born but have been struggling for months!

I love Alexander but DH says no :( We always loved Gabriel but I think the bullying potential is too high!! :(

All suggestions gratefully received! :)

AlexanderSkarsgardOhYes I think your just peeved because your DC name has been mentioned as 'tease' worthy and you don't like it. I have no idea why are you pointing fingers at me. Plenty of people of the baby name thread suggest list of names.

Zara Good luck with everything in Oct. I think Toby is great name, annoying my DH isn't so keen.

you're not your

jaffacakehips · 26/08/2012 20:59

Oh bloody ipad, I messed that up good and proper Grin

There's a Gabriel in DD's Yr 2 class at school, never heard of any teasing or other issues. OTOH, a few years ago when someone I worked with mentioned that a friend had named her child Gabriel there were a few raised eyebrows and comments that it was asking for teasing. Julian is possibly a bit wet I think, but I know a little Jules (pronounced Jools, not the French way), which I think is lovely.

I personally don't like Toby, i think it is one of those names which sounds fine on a child, less so on an adult. Again, there's one in DD's class and his mum calls him Tobes, which I like even less. May have something to do with one I was at school with who was a right horror though.

Thomas / Tom are fine but there are a lot of them about.

I was about to make exactly the same suggestions as edu Grin.

AlexanderSkarsgardOhYes · 28/08/2012 10:15

jaffa, I was responding to your comment "Other halts are SO annoying...just give him a list". I wasn't totally sure what you meant by this but I figured you were trying to say we should only give the OP a list of names, not our opinions. There are plenty of websites, e.g. Nameberry, where you can get lists of names.

Badvoc · 28/08/2012 10:28

I like Tobias. It has real shouting across the playground potential, and then Toby when he's being better behaved.

annelid · 28/08/2012 10:42

How about Tobiah

Zara1984 · 04/09/2012 17:49

Just an update - thanks again all to those who posted! We've decided on our third option - Xavier!

So - Toby, Tom or Xavier it is. Of course that means you'll probably see a thread from me next month that says the baby is called Rufus Grin

Oh I do like that name Zara, good choice.

Hope the last few weeks go smoothly for you

baskingseals · 04/09/2012 22:02

that's spooky zara, i was just going to say Xavier!

fades out to twilight zone music

sonnieboo · 04/09/2012 22:19

Xavier is lovely! I think it is much more interesting and less overused than Tom or Toby.

LadyMetroland · 05/09/2012 00:25

Sorry, but Xavier is ponce-tastic

stick with Tom and Toby

Mutteroo · 05/09/2012 02:01

I love the name Toby!

It's my dog's name.....But anyway....

Great choice of names you have here, most combos would be fab. Good luck with your baby OP ;)

humblebumble · 05/09/2012 03:26

I like both Toby (Tobias) and Thomas, am less keen on Xavier. I love Gabriel (and know of two boys called Gabriel and I am not aware of any teasing).

Have you consider Raphael nn Rafi?

Badgerina · 05/09/2012 07:19

Xavier is awesome Grin

Zara1984 · 05/09/2012 10:22

Mutteroo that's what MIL said about Toby when we suggested it: "nice name.... isn't it a dog's name?" Grin

Bump is currently being addressed by Toby, Tom and Xavier. No indication based on kicks which is his preference. Wink

I think Xavier is a great name - strong, cool and not overused. Not sure what ponce-tastic means but perhaps it is a good thinkg Wink.

Toby and Tom are ok but indeed a little dull and overused. A bit like Steve or Mike from our age.

MrsDelaBilliere · 05/09/2012 14:54

We have decide to go with Alexander Thomas for our new arrival later this month.
