I think I like old fashioned names - anyone care to share what their grandmothers/great-grandmothers were called.

G/M were Jessie and Catherine (known as Katie).
Great G/M were Louisa/ Amelia/ Gwendoline/ Blodwen

Aliki (Greek) and Joyce

DH's still going strong at 96 and 102 - Vera and Elsie

Josephine and maud

Bleurgh to both names (sorry! I really tried to like them when i was pg with a dd...but just couldn't)

Ethel and Marthe

Mine - Betty (Just Betty - not short for anything) and Madge
DH's - Laura & Edith

Lily-May and Gwyneth. Other relatives of that generation, Cissy, Mabel, Reene, Myra, Ada, Jeano, Doreen.

DPS were Beryl and Sadie ( I'm sure Sadie was a nn but not sure what for)

Alice and Margaret (known as Peggy). I'm named after one of them.
DH refused to call DD after my mum (Joan, but I would have gone for Joanna).

Just googled Sadie and it's a nn for Sarah.

Phyllis and Emily. I can't remember all my great aunts etc except Tryphenia, which I think is amazing!

Edith and Minnie. GM's sisters were called Jessie and Dorothy. Other side had a sister named Stella.

Generation before that were Dora and Jenny.

I love the names.

Olive & Sheila (prefer the former!!)

DH's were Dorothy & Winifred (again, prefer the former!)

Mabel, Winifred, and Eveline.

My exes nan was called Zalihe, which is I quite like.

Mine were Lottie (not sure if that was shortened from anything) and Betty (again not sure if it was something else). Step grandmother was Margaret
