What do you think of Eric? I love, dh not so keen as he think it's too old. We have a Robert and Mary so don't get where he's coming from!

Love it, I once met some twin boys called Frank and Eric and thought they were both traditional but still unusual names.

Sarcalogos · 29/07/2012 21:11

I don't like it. (sorry)

Think it is dated and sounds comical to me.

PineappleBed · 29/07/2012 21:12

Love!!

LauraPalmer · 29/07/2012 21:13

Southpark. ("I'm not fat, I'm big boned!")

monsterchild · 29/07/2012 21:15

I like Eric, but it's a bit 70's, like Bruce.

sarahseashell · 29/07/2012 21:17

really dislike - eric & ernie

Annunziata · 29/07/2012 21:19

I like it.

ValiumQueen · 29/07/2012 21:22

I had guineapigs called Fred and Eric. Love it!

BackforGood · 29/07/2012 21:23

I've only ever come across 1 Eric who was born since about 1935.
(He must be about 35/37ish now), and even he used to get loads of people saying "no, really, what's your real name?" when he told them he was called Eric.

Robert and Mary have been traditional names throughout many generations, but Eric is only for the over 75s.

Declutterbug · 29/07/2012 21:26

No.

roteelefant · 29/07/2012 21:36

shockers · 29/07/2012 21:45

EvenBetter · 30/07/2012 20:18

I love it!!
Never heard of it being an old mans name.
It makes me think of Eric from the Little Mermaid (?)

EdithWeston · 30/07/2012 20:30

Prefer Erik (gorgeous Viking) to Eric (rather too old-man).

peeriebear · 30/07/2012 20:38

My friends have an Erik. Lovely :)

BreconBeBuggered · 31/07/2012 00:44

It's a great name...for a dog. You could even train the dog to say it. Otherwise, leave it for some other unfortunate child.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 31/07/2012 00:47

I know a gorgeous 2yo Eric - it suits him.

I agree I prefer Erik, but that's just personal choice. And I have children with MN villified names so free to ignore
