Seth.

I think I like the name Thea, but are there too many 'th' sounds?

What middle name would go well with Thea?

Thanks!

Personally, the 'th' sound would put me off. Not so bad if you say Thea first.

Ruprekt · 29/07/2012 12:56

'Seth! Thea!'

Too many th's for my liking!

What about Leah or Rhea?

What about Cleo? I always think it's a bit like Thea for some reason.

SomebodyIUsedToKnow · 29/07/2012 13:10

Can't use Leah or Cleo - the L sounds strange with last name.

I didn't think the 'th' sounds would be too problematic? Confused

I love both of those names but reluctantly agree that together it does sound a bit too th-y.

Won't really matter to them while they're independently living their lives but they will always be "Seth&Thea" to you, so I suppose it's a question of how much do you mind the sounds together?

EdithWeston · 29/07/2012 13:15

As people usually seem to refer to their elder child first when speaking of both, you are heading for "Sethea", especially at certain volumes. Would that bother you?

SomebodyIUsedToKnow · 29/07/2012 13:21

Maybe it bothers me a bit, but I really like the name! Sad

Lovely name but not great with Seth. If you're anything like me you will end up yelling "Theth! Seah! Dinner's ready!"

How about Nia? Welsh & lovely, Seth & Nia sounds great.

VolAuVent · 29/07/2012 16:22

Agree that Thea and Seth is too much "th".

Seth and Cecilia

MamaMimi · 29/07/2012 17:18

Moonhare says it all really.

I don't think they are all that bad together.

Although like birdofthenorth when I said it out loud it came out as Theth and Seah!

If it's your preferred girls name and you really like it I don't think you should be put off by the 2 'th' sounds together 'cos I don't see it as a big problem.

SomebodyIUsedToKnow · 29/07/2012 21:35

Thank you - none of the other suggestions are really doing it for me, but maybe they'll grow on me! Or I'll just use Thea anyway... Wink

I know a Seth with a sister called Pearl which I think sounds great together.

cakeandwine · 29/07/2012 21:43

I think Thea is lovely name and not a problem with Seth at all. I would use it - the 'th' sounds don't bother me. Thinking about it, it is quite strange to think that you name your child based on how it sounds next to siblings name. For the majority of your children's lives they won't be referred to with their sibling, but as an individual. Fab names

ningthemerciless · 29/07/2012 21:52

I know a Seth whose sister is kaitlyn which I think works lovely together.

Do like thea though...

poppy283 · 29/07/2012 22:00

What about Aphra?

Beautiful, underused name and a similar sound to Thea.

Bashfulblue · 30/07/2012 11:40

Actually without realising it we managed to call our DDs quite similar names to each other. Didn't notice for a year or two, and it's only really obvious with things like signing cards from all of us. I also love the name Thea (although it is only one letter different from Seth - but maybe that doesn't matter in the great scheme of things...)
