We are just TTC number 2 and have realised this evening, that all of dh and dh's brothers kids have the initials JHB. Totally unintentional but got us talking about other nice JH names! Would love to hear some ideas, especially for girls! Obviously the B is the surname. We've already got a jake Harvey, a Joe Harvey and a Jade Helena between us so those names are
out!

Sorry to be the voice of doom, but ime, the same initials can cause mega problems in a family.

Would you consider HJ to complement your JH?

Badgerina · 22/07/2012 08:26

Mega problems? Doom? Nah Hmm

McKayz · 22/07/2012 08:29

I'm with Chaos. My friends initials are AA. As are his mums, dads, both brothers and one sister. The kids all hate it. They were always opening each others post, they never knew who phone calls were for and the sister is considering changing her name now.

exoticfruits · 22/07/2012 08:33

The post will be an utter nightmare-it will have to opened and passed on-not something that I would want.

exoticfruits · 22/07/2012 08:35

Apart from the post
Juliet Harriet
James Henry

exoticfruits · 22/07/2012 08:36

On second thoughts Harriet doesn't go with Juliet
Juliet Hester

Jakeyblueblue · 22/07/2012 09:28

Thanks all, not really considering it seriously though might be tempted if I find a nice combination, but really it was a hypothetical out of interest kind of question! keep the ideas coming! Grin

Why not be bold and break the rules by giving this child a totally different set of initials?
The issue with the mixed up post will present itself every day in life in the teenage years. It's been posted on here enough times. If you want quarrels every day go ahead.

Jakeyblueblue · 22/07/2012 12:07

As i said in the post earlier, its just a bit of fun unless something really takes my fancy, I can see your point with the post - although surely a girls post would say miss rather than mr. I only have one other son. The others are cousins.

OP posts:
shimmy0 · 22/07/2012 13:26

Yes it would say miss, but if you have another boy and call it J H then you have problems in the teenage years.

AnnaFender · 24/07/2012 00:05

I have the same initials as my mum, and it was never a problem Confused How much post are you all getting?! We even had accounts at the same bank and it was never a problem. And phonecalls? Who phones and asks for someone by their initial!

I find the utter horror at the 'nightmare' that will happen if people in the same house have the same initial bizarre!

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/07/2012 00:11

As I said in my post, I was talking about "my experience" of family members with identical initials.

Hmm
Jakeyblueblue · 24/07/2012 02:42

Thanks all, some great names. Lots I hadn't even thought of! Far more pretty girls names than I imagined too.
Anna, Thankyou for your comment. It Made me chuckle. It was only a bit of fun in the first place - funny thing is I was never actually asking for people's opinions on whether I should do it or not! Guess you can always count on mumsnet for the bigger picture eh? Grin

shimmy0 · 24/07/2012 08:15

Annafender I take it you were miss and your mother was mrs therefore it of course it was never a problem!

iliketea · 24/07/2012 08:43

Jacob Henry.

It waa my choice if DD had been a Ds, I'll let you use it Smile

AnnaFender · 24/07/2012 09:54

No my mother never married so we were both Miss :)

McKayz · 24/07/2012 09:57

Anna, my friends went through years of bullying because of them all having the same initials. Like I said my friends sister is changing her name by deed poll so she doesn't have to keep having the same initials.

So just because it was fine for you doesn't mean it's fine for others.

AnnaFender · 24/07/2012 13:31

Just because it wasn't fine for your friends doesn't mean it won't be fine for others Confused

I was just pointing out that post addressed to people in the same house with the same initial isn't the end of the world.

You all must get very interesting post. Even if my mum had opened my bank statement or whatever I'm sure she wouldn't have been interested in my junior bank account with about £50 in it.
