Jack, Will, or Nate?

CheerfulYank · 20/07/2012 06:46

Not pregnant, but hoping to be soon and like my ducks in a row. :o

We already have a Sam. Also, Jack is not as popular in America (at least in our part) as it is there. And Will and Nate would be William and Nathan/Nathaniel officially.

Cast your vote! Smile Oh, and also Charles, nn Charlie, as a dark horse candidate.

Love Nathaniel nn Nate, this was my first choice for a boy butvDP wouldn't go with it.

sonniboo · 20/07/2012 07:27

Jack and Nate are nice

Will is a verb/noun and far too close to Willy!

SugarMeFingers · 20/07/2012 07:50

Love Nate, it was on my short list.

emmyloo2 · 20/07/2012 07:53

In order of preference:

Nathanial
William
Charles
Jack

Although I love them all. I have a soft spot for Nate though - I just love it.

ChuckUFarley · 20/07/2012 07:56

I love Nathanial but didn't use it as it's my nephew's name. I can highly recommend William. 6 years on and he's still gorgeous and lovely - must be down to the name Grin

lins2 · 20/07/2012 08:08

I have a Jack and a William - known as Will. Both gorgeous, both very boy-sy. I wanted Angus and Noah but DH said no - said I'd have to have 2 more boys if I wanted those names as well. 4 boys...............I think not!

jeneliapeterson · 20/07/2012 09:54

Nate is a good option, more unpopular than Jack and Williams.

Stellan · 20/07/2012 09:56

I really like Nathaniel and would love to use it but I think, really, he would always be a Nathan or Nate. Since you're planning on calling him Nate, anyway, I don't think it makes much difference whether you go for Nathaniel or Nathan.

I think all are great names that compliment Sam well.

Kittenkatzen · 20/07/2012 09:58

Really like them all, but in order of preference;

Sam & Charlie
Sam & Jack
Sam & Nate
Sam & Will

Littlecherublegs · 20/07/2012 11:40

Love Nate - Nathan is on our shortlist!

In order of prefernce then:
Nate
Jack
Will
Charlie

EverybodyKnows · 20/07/2012 11:41

Nate is a lovely name.

strawberrypenguin · 20/07/2012 11:43

I have a Wiilliam (he's a Bill not a Will though) I also love Nate

Glaikit · 20/07/2012 11:46

I'd go for Nate although I thought you had agreed on my previous suggestions Wink

Viviennemary · 20/07/2012 11:46

I like Jack best from your list.

bananaramma · 20/07/2012 13:59

Nathaniel/Nathan is lovely, nickname Nate.

Jack is nice but very very widely used in the UK already.

I'm not keen on Will at all. Kids will find it hard to resist adding a 'y' at the end, so lots of playground teasing potential. Unless of course you don't call it Willy in the US Grin.

rachel234 · 20/07/2012 14:34

Another vote for Nate. Nathaniel is a great name imo.

I don't like Will very much, sorry. Charlie and Jack are ok but yes, very common in the UK.

Goingunderfast · 20/07/2012 14:35

Jack or nate are nice!

CheerfulYank · 20/07/2012 15:39

Looks like Nate is the clear winner. :)

Jack is not very popular here, we have far more Jakes. And no, we don't call it a willy. :o

CheerfulYank · 20/07/2012 15:41

I told you Glaikit...DH just won't agree! I don't know why... :o

TimeForCake · 20/07/2012 16:45

DH and I love Nate and it's at the top of our list. Pleased to see so much positive response for it because we're a bit nervous about it! Probably because although we love it, we don't like Nathan or Nathaniel and so Nate would be on the birth certificate.
I like all your names though. Nate best, then Will, then Jack.

MrsJohnDeere · 20/07/2012 18:12

Will

CheerfulYank · 20/07/2012 18:37

Thanks, everyone. :)

Nate is the nicest and least overused.

Jack is SO common here and Will will be teased with Willy imo.

evamummy · 21/07/2012 16:14

Jack and Nate are nice. Will is indeed to close to Willy - I think little boys in particular will find that connection irresistible. But as you're in the US, perhaps not an issue.
