Just happened to stumble across this name to day and really like it! What are your thoughts is it perceived as too out there?? Does anybody have a little Saffron and what reactions do you get?.........oh and the Ab Fab thing doesn't bother me!

Like it. It's a strong name and would suit an adult too.

BlingBubbles · 12/07/2012 23:34

I love Saffron, it was one of the three names we considered for our DD. it was actually the front runner until DD was born and then we chose another name. She just didn't look like a Saffron, maybe for the net one.

I do like Saffron, but would always have Saffy from Ab Fab popping into my head looking all earnest and disapproving.

I know a male Saffron. It's very cool on him, he wears it well

Figgygal · 13/07/2012 11:26

I like it BUT for a weird reason.......its my pet skunks name.

Although we do call her saffy and it did come from absolutely fabulous.

DottieRose · 13/07/2012 11:29

Oh I didn't realise that Saffron could be used as a male name.....is it more commonly used as a female name? I see it as been a slightly hippyish, cool and exotic name for a girl to wear but my mother seems to think its more suitable for a stripper or in your dinner! My mother not liking a name that I like always makes me second guess myself which is both a good and bad thing I guess! Hmm

Simon Le Bon has two daughters called Saffron and Amber so he has a colour theme going as well.

DottieRose · 13/07/2012 11:36

I think they have a Tallulah also! Sad that I know that, though they make a cute sibset!

Frikadellen · 13/07/2012 18:59

I love it was on our short list for dd1 you have to like the nn Saffy though

noisytoys · 13/07/2012 19:16

My oldest is Saffron. And my youngest is Willow. Saffron is 4 and she loves watching Ratatouille where Remy runs round the garden looking for Saffron Smile

SoozyWoozy · 13/07/2012 19:26

We have 3 Saffron's in DCs school - all of them are Saf or Saffy :)

Its pretty - do you mind it being shortened?

noisytoys · 13/07/2012 19:29

My Saffron is shortened to Saff by everyone else but im her mum so I'm allowed to call her Saffron Smile She doesn't mind her name being abbreviated so I don't mind

poppy283 · 13/07/2012 19:44

Love it! Sister in law is a 30 something Saffron and really suits it. Really nice on a little girl too.

I think the male version is usually Safran and is Jewish?

DottieRose · 13/07/2012 20:14

I don't think I would like it to be shortened not that I mind Saf or Saffie I just think Saffron is so pretty that it is a shame to shorten it!
