Jonah or Roman ?

Any thoughts ?

I love both.They're two of my favourite names. I can't choose between them which isn't very helpful I know.But they're both excellent choices.

Both lovely, the only problems have with Jonah is that it may be shortened to Joe which I personally do not like!

I know a lot of Jonahs, so it's a vote for Roman from me.

No idea why, but the name Roman always conjures up the image of a male stripper.

Jonah is lovely but apparently it means 'bringer of doom' which is a shame!

Unless he becomes a sailor or a pirate he needn't worry about the tale of Jonah.

I much prefer Jonah. Roman is all right, but to my mind it's a bit like calling your child 'Babylonian' or 'Prussian'.

I think Roman is much nicer/classier than Jonah. Also, the meaning of Jonah (bringer of bad luck) isn't nice.

Roman also works in most other languages - great, international name.

Jonah is a byword for "jinx"

I'm in the west of Scotland and names here are generally different the mumsnet rule . A few times I've saw people describe a name as very popular but I don't know or know of anyone called it .
