What do you think? I heard it yesterday and Dd (4) said it was "the prettiest name in the world" Smile

Previous favourites are Clara and Annabel

JammySplodger · 10/07/2012 10:04

I like it, and Clara & Annabel are lovely too.

Dropdeadfred · 10/07/2012 10:04

My friend has a daughter called Ezmie. It's pronounced ezmee. I prefer Esme pronounced Ezmay

mumnosbest · 10/07/2012 10:06

I agree with your dd :)

msrantsalot · 10/07/2012 10:07

Esme is a witch in terry pratchett novels. Wouldn't put me off tho, short for Esmeralda. Annabel I don't like as I think of the doll, baby annabel. Wasn't Clara off pigeon street? Esme is the best of the 3 I think.

MammaTonic · 10/07/2012 10:12

Lovely name, particularly with an accent over the last 'e' and so pronounced 'Ez-mey'. I think it's becoming popular now, but so what? It means 'esteemed and adored' which is just beautiful, IMO.

Love Clara and Annabel, too :) Tough choice!

VolAuVent · 10/07/2012 10:15

Love Clara and Annabel.

Not keen on Esme I'm afraid, it's rather faddy and sounds harsh with the Ezz sound. Esmerelda is horrible.

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 10/07/2012 10:23

Thanks Ladies, it seems nice that dd will have chosen it Smile

Only 24 weeks so lots of time to mull it over

Beautiful name. Very pretty.

attheendoftheday · 10/07/2012 12:07

I love Esme, one of my favorite names (but I had a cat called this so can't bring myself to reuse it for a child).

Mum2Kaison · 10/07/2012 12:15

If my bubz is a girl it is deffo Es-mee Ez-mee or Ez-mei cant decide lols!

shouldbedoingtheironing · 10/07/2012 20:47

I love Clara and Annabel!

Esme - I like but it has recently become very popular around here. I have heard both variations of pronunciation and prefer EZ May personally!

trixymalixy · 10/07/2012 20:50

One of my favourites. Very pretty.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 10/07/2012 20:52

I think all three names are lovely. Esme very nice, and not popular where I am.

NaturalNatures · 10/07/2012 20:58

Esme is lovely. I prefer it out of the 3 with Annabel 2nd but all 3 are great. Nice for your dd to have chosen it though at least it wasn't captain gooballs

dimdommilpot · 10/07/2012 21:49

Love it but then i am biased, my Esmé (we pronounce it Es-may) is 20months. I chose it as the name for my 1st daughter when i was 15, im now 27.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 10/07/2012 21:53

It is sooo popular now. I know four.

Badgerina · 11/07/2012 07:02

I love Esme (pn Ezmee) and Clara. Annabelle is awful.

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 11/07/2012 07:26

Can't believe it's popular in some places. The Esme we met is about 60.

perplexedpirate · 11/07/2012 07:52

Esmee is lovely. Anabelle is ick.

perplexedpirate · 11/07/2012 07:52

Christ, spelling??
I mean Esme and Annabelle. HmmGrin

FanjoPingpong · 11/07/2012 10:31

I love Esme (pron Ez-mee) - it's one of our top choices.

rockinhippy · 11/07/2012 10:50

I love it - Is a friend of ours eldest DDs name - she's 12 - she is clever, creative, very very feisty & pretty to boot & if she's anything like her Mum, which she is, she will do very well in life - it would have been on my shortlist too had we not know friend :)

littlemissbroody26 · 11/07/2012 12:00

I think your dd has good choice in names! Esme is a lovely name :)
