Hi everyone,

So after months of thinking, we've finally settled on Benjamin for a first name. But now we're stuck for a middle name! Any suggestions...???

Our surname is L-B if that helps :o

Edward

I think a 1 syllable name might suit best as Benjamin is quite long in itself and Im guessing your surname is too...

How about:

James (can rarely go wrong with this!) Smile
Marc
John
George
Jude
Lee
Paul
Tate
Frank
Jack
Zac

They're fab, thank you!

Cherub - The shorter name point is a good one, don't want the poor boy to run out of space on forms :)

CPtart - I love Edward, it was one of my favourites, but unfortunately one of the nicknames for it wouldn't work with our surname so it got ruled out as a first name. Could definitely work in the middle though as that's less likely to get shortened.

Volauvent - They're great, thank you. I shall present all these names to hubby tonight. Although a couple we've already used on pets, so I suspect they might be ruled out :o

Thanks again, knew mumsnet would have the answers!

Out of those James or Jack go really well. Although the initials would be BJ.

Make sure that whatever you use doesn't sound funny with Ben too in case he shortens his name later.

i.e. I'd avoid any thing beginning with D - Ben D. Surname.

I have a Benjamin Edward Smile

WhenDoISleep · 09/07/2012 17:29

John or James

DottieRose · 09/07/2012 18:55

Benjamin Edward seems to be the est suggestion, I would be wary of the initials BJ!

VolAuVent · 09/07/2012 19:09

Not James. It's extremely popular ubiquitous as a middle name.

VolAuVent · 09/07/2012 19:11

And you would get "jam" twice.

loopydoo · 09/07/2012 19:18

Benjamin Flynn L_B

I wouldn't go with a 'J' initial for middle name Wink. We had the same issue with our ds whose name begins with B.

loopydoo · 09/07/2012 19:22

Benjamin Storm
Benjamin Arthur
Benjamin Rufus
Benjamin Eli
Benjamin George
Benjamin Luke
Benjamin Issac
Benjamin Conor
Benjamin Oliver
Benjamin Taylor
Benjamin Brody (my fave)

loopydoo · 09/07/2012 19:30

Benjamin Gaius
Benjamin Merlin (do you see a BBC drama taking over me?) Grin

Tallgiraffe · 11/07/2012 16:36

Thank you all!

I think we're heading for Benjamin Edward :o

Had to think about the BJ initials for a while Blush stupid baby brain!! Had a good laugh about the Ben-D names though :o
