I know, I know. It's who you are/how you act, not your name that makes you. But I adore those posh, fancy names like Cressida,Romilly, Araminta, Jemima etc. They're pretty, with history, but are underused. I already have a list of boy names I love (Willoughby, Hugo, Julius, Montgomery, Caspian, and Atticus) so just girl names are needed!

Note: I also am fond of the slightly ridiculous names like Digby and Osbert, Zelda and Hebe. But that is for another thread, another time!)

DD's name is also on here. Ironically it was mentioned on another (old) thread that it was 'chavvy'.

Rhinestone - as far as I remember from a really old thread (searched when looking for inspiration for DD), I think it may be your name IRL.

So whats posh to one is the opposite to another.

Posh sounding names are often the long unusual ones that sound a bit frilly. Actual 'posh' women/girls I know/have known Jemima, Georgia/Georgie, Victoria, Katherine.

"I went to (posh boarding) school with girls called Prudence (pru for short), Margeaux (pronounced Margo), Penelope (penny), Rowena (ro), Selena."

Well, Margeaux spelled like that certainly wasn't posh- she was faking it. Margot, certainly. But Margeaux is up there with Chardonnay......or down there ......
