I know, I know. It's who you are/how you act, not your name that makes you. But I adore those posh, fancy names like Cressida,Romilly, Araminta, Jemima etc. They're pretty, with history, but are underused. I already have a list of boy names I love (Willoughby, Hugo, Julius, Montgomery, Caspian, and Atticus) so just girl names are needed!

Note: I also am fond of the slightly ridiculous names like Digby and Osbert, Zelda and Hebe. But that is for another thread, another time!)

I jest not, I was at school with a girl who was actually called Virginity, poor kid Blush (What were her parents thinking?). Don't know where that rates, on the posh scale. Then again, there's Cher's daughter Chastity .....

I love the Latin names like Flavia (don't think it's been mentioned yet?), and Cornelia.

I also know a couple of Lavinias but ending up being called

marshmallowpies · 02/01/2015 08:36

Oops pressed post too soon! Ending up being called Lavvy is probably not everyone's idea of a great nickname.

"I am just looking for the female equivalent of Rupert, really."

It's Daphne.

Well established amongst Army types which, if you're in the right Regiment of course, is also suitably posh.

Biscuitsneeded · 02/01/2015 14:44

Or Ottoline? Daphne? Iphigenia? Cecily/Cecilia? Penelope? Rosamund?

GingerbreadPudding · 02/01/2015 15:42

My name and both of my DDs' names are on here. Several times over. Confused

Just checking in to see if my RL name is on here... That would be a yes, and DD's name appears several times too. Ever so posh me Wink
