I'm writing a novel, the characters so far are;
Jasper
Rosalind
Hamish
Cecily
Daphne
Lionel
Frederick
Penelope
Montgomery

...tried to stay away from the duller names like Alice and Edward without straying into oddball territory. I need more names for extended family and the like, please suggest some thanks!

PS Calypso has been considered and dismissed, exactly because it is from the brilliant novel Camomile Lawn - already taken!

Where is your novel set, op? Lovely names, by the way.

EmilyRoo · 27/06/2012 18:43

NeedlesCuties thank you, Emmeline and Nathaniel are perfect!

Iawncont It is set in 1930s England!

Olive28 These are lovely, and shall be attatched to various characters: Rufus (bit of a loon though), Hugo, Hector, Lawrence, Tobias nn Toby, and Julian. Girls were harder as I'm strangely pickier but Flora and Ophelia are beautiful!

surf25 thanks! Duncan, Quentin and Esme are all quite nice, probably give these to the estranged "creative" cousins! :)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

reastie I like Alice I really do! It's just that as long as I'm naming characters, might as well see with what I can get away with! ;)

Violet and Dorothea are pretty, and Reginald, Percival and Herbert (prefer Hughbert a teeny bit) are excellent thanks!

EmilyRoo, Edna's definitely a bit scary! But with a very soft centre.

NotGeoffVader · 28/06/2012 09:21

With those names I was thinking PG Wodehouse or Enid Blyton! Bunty springs to mind....

I have a novel on hold which spans a few generations - I had a look at the census for the closest years to my character's birth years to get some inspiration, if that helps.
