I am liking the double barrel name John Paul partly because i will be using the names of two family members and it makes it less boring than just Paul or John

Does it sound too much though?
will he get the Beatles and pope jokes?

thoughts please :)

I have known one in RL, and like it as a name.

But I do think the Papal association is very strong. But as JPII was a good Pope, I don't think that's necessarily a problem.

Gaultier, Getty, Sartre, II.

I don't get why the names John and Paul are combined so much more often than other names?

Advantage to that though is that it won't sound too unusual.

BIL is John Paul. We like it, it suits him, some people call him JP and some John Paul. When he orders stuff offline they always call him John X though, not John Paul X. Not sure that's such a problem but something I notice!

"It's a pope."

No, it is a name.

Personally I like John Paul - both are short, snappy names that sound good together.

Ooh very 1970's. I'm not sure it works so well in 2012 but if you like it OP theme go for it.

rachel234 · 28/06/2012 22:15

I know a John Paul - I think the combination is so popular because both names are short, so together it still sounds shorter than, say Alexander or Dominic, for example.

Unnamed, I don't think the name knows whether it is 1970 or 2012 Grin.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 28/06/2012 22:17

*then go for it.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 28/06/2012 22:17

Yeah but I do! Wink
