Rose Gordon too much like 'rose garden'?

I have another discussion going on about the name Lilibet (which I LOVE but everyone hates) but also want to get opinions on Rose.

So I love the name Rose almost as much as Lilibet - but the surname is Gordon

Does Rose Gordon work, or will everyone say 'oh as in rose garden'?!

I have a colleague called Liliana and whenever I email or speak to her I think it really is a very lovely name. My dd is a Lilian and it really suits her, but sometimes I think that Liliana is even better :)

I know a Lillibet who is just called Lillibet. Go with what you like, no one else's opinion matters.

Akissisnotacontract - wow a real Lilibet!! So do people always ask her to repeat her name/tell her she must be a fan of the Queen/generally take the piss?!
How old is she? Does she like her name?

She's 7 or 8 now, I'm friends with her mum. She's a lovely girl and the name really suits her. I don't think her mum is a royalist - I'm an atheist yet I love biblical names.

TheSpokenNerd · 20/06/2012 13:14

Lisbet? Liza?

MacMac123 · 20/06/2012 13:20

Ok well that's good to know! If u see her mum will u ask her if she ever regrets the name pls?! Smile

I know that she doesn't without even asking her!

I always think when people are giving answers on the baby name threads, their opinions don't really matter unless they qualify them by telling us what their kids are called. The people who were saying they didn't like Lillibet could have kids called Gideon and Marmaduke.

Ha ha exactly!! Grin

It sounds like Rose Garden - but whats wrong with that - it's not as if her name sound like Dog poo or something. Prefer Rose to Lilibet but it is up to you and your dh as it is your child after all. Go for a name you love.

MrClaypole · 20/06/2012 14:28

Liliana Bethany is a genius idea SOOS

MUCH better then Lilibet!

PS Rose Gorden is too like Rose Garden IMHO.

Tessa617 · 20/06/2012 17:38

sings I beg your pardon...I didn't promise you a Rose Gordon.

This is stuck in my head for the rest of the day :)

paperclips · 23/06/2012 08:28

I like, wouldn't have thought of Rose Garden.

Now you mention it, it sounds a little bit like Rose Garden - but there's nothing wrong with that is there?

MrsLetch · 23/06/2012 12:52

Yes, I would say it i too close. Unfortunately 'Rose garden' or 'Rose cottage' is also the name / euphemism for the mortuary at my local hospital too...

Lannie33 · 26/06/2012 02:51

Never would have thought of Rose garden unless you mentioned it, but now that you do...i guess it IS kinda close.

I like StepOut's suggestion w Lilliana. But I would just call her Lilliana all the time because it sounds so pretty.

cumbria81 · 26/06/2012 12:19

I would not have made the connection at all, I think it's fine

(Lilibet is awful, sorry)
