So how popular is James as a first name?

Seems to be a vv popular middle name where I live, but I haven't heard it used for a whIle as a first name. Just curious as to how popular it is elsewhere :-)

James is the second most popular name among my son's friends (after Edward). There are six in one of the playgroups we go to.
