A Sibling for Noah

Hello, I'm currently 29weeks pg with DC2, we don't know the sex. Currently trying to come up with a shortlist of names. DS is Noah. I loved this when we named him and didn't know any others but have since met lots and seen popularity soar! DS would have been Erin or Matilda if he'd been female but we can't use either of those names now, a shame as I love both.

For DC2 I'd like a name which is less popular. Currently all I have come up with are the following:-

Boys
Micah
Jonah
Lysander

Would having two -ah ending names be a little twee? DP isn't terribly keen on any of these anyway.

Girls
Lydia - apparently declining in popularity and was just outside the top 100 last year
Arya - love this but I'm worried about the Game of Thrones factor

So, can you help me to come up with a few more names to add to my list? I'd like to avoid the initials B, I, N and P too.

Micah, Jonah and Lydia are my favourites from your list! How about Levi, Isaac or Isaiah?

Badgerina · 15/06/2012 08:11

I love Micah. It seems pretty unisex to me, so could work for a girl too?

Not sure about Lydia or Arya.

Maamekin · 15/06/2012 08:18

Micah is fabulous! As is Lydia.

How about, for boys:

Aaron
Caleb
Asa
Jesse
Saul
Joel
Reuben

TessTosterone · 15/06/2012 08:20

Love Lydia.
Like Lysander

Joseph
Isaac
Eli
Ezra
Jacob

WhispersOfWickedness · 15/06/2012 11:35

We have a Noah Grin

If dd had been a boy, she would have been called Sam or George. She's called Rosa Smile

thatgirlsevil · 15/06/2012 11:56

I really like Micah, not just because I'm a fan of the musician Micah P Hinson. Jonah is a little too similar for my liking.

I also have a Noah...and my choice for a boy would be Seth or Linus.

thatgirlsevil · 15/06/2012 12:00

I'm not mad about your girls names either (sorry)...but both are perfectly nice.

I like Daphne, Margot, Blythe, Scout, Elsie and Wanda...frilly names are a no-no.

Stellan · 15/06/2012 12:33

Arya looks like aryan; it is therefore completely unusable, in my opinion. Aria is an acceptable spelling and has lovely musical connotations rather than horrible Nazi ones.

Noah is a great name so I wish you all the best in picking another fabulous one for his sibling!

MyMelody · 15/06/2012 12:35

Chris Evans has a Noah and they have called their new baby boy Eli.

WineOhWhy · 15/06/2012 12:37

I like Jonah but think it is too similar (the "oh" sound in the first syllable as well as the "ah" ending). Think you could get away with Micah as the first syllable is different. Like Lydia. Dont like Arya or Lysander.

Jesse
Joel
Jonah

Thanks so much for all your responses. It seems like you've confirmed that Jonah and Noah might be a bit too similar. I thought as much. I really liked Elias or Elijah but, with Chris Evans calling his new son Eli we've crossed that one off the list Smile

I'd forgotten about Gabriel and Ezra, I love both of these so will definitely be firmly putting them back on the list. Asa and Linus are great names too. I also love Seth but DP has a bit of a lisp and it just doesn't sound right when he says it! We both have quite large families and it seems like lots of names that I like, for example Reuben and Isaac, have already been used.

Girls' names are so much more of a struggle this time. The opposite of last time when we had our girl choices settled early on and never decided on boys' names until he was here. I do like Jemima but DP really doesn't. Martha is lovely too but seems to be getting really popular recently, I've heard of a couple of little girls around here with that name. Love Imogen, Anna, Abigail and Lucy but they are in use amongst friends and family. Actually the suggestion of Sarah is really growing on me, I'll be adding that to the list.

Sadie is traditionally a nickname for Sarah and it's quite fashionable at the moment so if you name her Sarah, it's a lovely option to have as a nickname.

babyblabber · 15/06/2012 13:37

We have a Noah and just had sophia 3 days ago! Names On our list were Luca, Leo, Jacob, Ben, Toby, Chloe, Lola, Clara.

Let us know what you pick!

whatlauradid · 15/06/2012 13:38
