Willa?

What do you think? It would be a middle name (not first name - I am not that brave) if our baby is a girl. She would be being named after a relative (William).

I have always loved the name and love the fact that we can honour this person. Oh, and I love the book "My Antonia" by Willa Cather!

But is the name too out there? Will she hate us for it? I did a mumsnet search and see that the name crashed and burned on this forum about 2 years ago. But have views changed?

Not sure.

Aworryingtrend · 12/06/2012 15:19

I personally don't like it but if you and your DH do thats all that matters! Plus if it is going to be a middle name it is not going to be used much anyway.

Adore it (and ms catha).

What about Wilona? It's an old English name meaning 'badly wanted'

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 12/06/2012 16:14

It's very pretty. I like it. And it isn't made-up!

mrsSOAK · 12/06/2012 16:20

We have a 'distant relative' wth that name it is short for Willamaara and she is SA. for her it is pronound with a 'v' sound rather than a 'w'

randomimposter · 12/06/2012 17:41

DS is at pre-school with a Willa and she is an all-round gorgeous girl. I don't think it's that out there at all. Particularly as a MN.

Pixieonthemoor · 12/06/2012 17:55

I like it! For a first or second name!

I don't like it but you do and it's a middle name, so go for it.

Rindercella · 13/06/2012 11:54
