Clover?

I love Clover but it's the name of a friend's DD. :)

Pansy is nice but here (Midwestern America) it's a generic term for wimp. Like "ah, quit being such a pansy." So I have slightly negative connotations for it.

Yes, we have that connotation in the UK (with suggestions of camp as well) but it doesn't really affect females.

Oh, it's not like that here. Girl or boy, it's no good to be called a pansy. :)

Aster

How about Blossom, or Flora, or Fleur? Kind of flower related without actually being a flower IYKWIM

Cola would be good for a black dog. Does it have to be a flower name? Cola does come from a tree though ....

Can i ask what breed / size of dog? We have a liver spotted Dalmatian who we re-homed and she is Willow (not sure we'd of chosen that ourselves but it suits her and people we meet love it!)

What about Raffia? (it comes from aplant as opposed to flower)

My friends retriever is also Rosie and she also has a Holly.

Nappy she will be a golden retriever/black lab mix. The litter before (of the same parents) look like lanky black labs with slightly wavy fur. :) They were a beautiful, mellow bunch...hoping for the same with this gang!

I love Willow and that was my favorite ideal dog name for a long time (yes I have a list of those, as well as children ) but just thought I'd think of some others in case she doesn't seem like a Willow. :)

Sort of liking Petunia... :) Though I've always though that would be funny on something like a bulldog or Great Dane.

I thought Sloe was a good name for a black dog but it wasn't the best choice for a greyhound :o
