Was it rated or slated? Grin

My name is on a thread now and am pleased to see so many people like it and think it's classic and elegant :) I however, am not

never seen mine, and it is not that uncommon.

Like Loreen I think everyone should name their babies red or storm. Truly. The trend starts here. :)

Have seen younger DS's name on the regular lists of names to avoid, and once on a US website called 'Baby's named a bad bad thing'. Blush

My name is sometimes mentioned but not universally rated.

DS1's name is boring, DS2's has been described as "council estate" and DD's name is "frilly" Hmm

ilovemybum · 01/06/2012 07:17

Neither mine or DS has had our names mentioned on here.

My name is fairly common i believe but DS has a name that is extremely un common (as far as i'm aware. I only know of 1) OH has been mentioned a few times on a good thread.

othersideofchannel · 01/06/2012 07:20

My name is sometimes mentioned (as lovely), ds's is often described as posh and dd's as beautiful. I can line with that Smile.

DogEared · 01/06/2012 07:25

My name is Welsh and comes up on almost every Welsh baby girl name thread. Mostly liked, occasionally "Why would you do that to a child? Shock "
I don't care, I love my name. :)
Both my DSes have Welsh names too, DS1 is seen as "boring" and DS2's name is liked. Which is weird, because Welsh speakers seem to think the opposite about them.

AnAirOfHope · 01/06/2012 08:38

my name is Welsh and comes up all the time.

inmysparetime · 01/06/2012 08:41

I have never seen my name, it's not that unusual among ladies of a certain age and quite inoffensive and normal unlike myselfGrin I think it's off most people's radar though.

BillyBollyBandy · 01/06/2012 08:44

I'm due a comeback Smile

DD1's name is "everywhere" and DD2 's seems to split opinion.

Happenstance · 01/06/2012 08:45

yes- it's too posh sounding, and reminds everyone of that woman and has a rude meaning. lol

DD1 lovely but getting to popular

DD2 lovely but getting to popular

i know of 2 people with DD1's name and no-one with DD2's

foxeeroxee · 01/06/2012 08:46

never seen mine its a very 80's name in my opinion though i do like it now.
Never seen dd or ds1 but ds2 has definitly had a mix of opinions from people absolutly hating it and people loving it. Obviously i love all 3 Smile

lisaro · 01/06/2012 08:49

Dogeared that may be because some Welsh names look like they are ugly written down but are beautiful when said. I love Welsh names.

QuicheMeQuick · 01/06/2012 08:51

My name got described as a middle-aged hairdresser's name :( I am not middle-aged a hairdresser.

MackerelOfFact · 01/06/2012 08:52

Yeah, apparently it's 'common' and I even read that it was 'chavvy' (it's a classic name, been around a few hundred years, but surged in popularity in the 80s and has stayed pretty popular ever since!)

I love my name, pretty and girly without being too cutesy, suits a baby, child, woman and old lady. IMO. Grin

TheRedQueen · 01/06/2012 09:06

No, never (which is excellent, as my name is just awful and I would really not want anyone else to have to suffer!)

AdventuresWithVoles · 01/06/2012 09:10

Mostly slated, lol. Too much of its time, "makes me laugh", not for a baby, yet quite popular if varied (change last few letters to something else).

Kveta · 01/06/2012 09:11

yes, a lot - it's scottish, and seems to be getting v. popular recently, for some bizarre reason Hmm

FoofFighter · 01/06/2012 09:12

My erddle name which I think is bloody awful is universally liked on here and I always think, nooooo please don't do that to your child!

Abcinthia · 01/06/2012 09:13

Yes quite a few times.

People always get told to have Catherine on the birth certificate and use my name as a nickname. Most people seem to like it, though I have seen comments of boring and common.

ShatnersBassoon · 01/06/2012 09:20

Yes, it crops up quite frequently, although it isn't a common name. Must be becoming more popular. I'm the only one I know.

Most people describe it as pretty and traditional.

CharltonHairstyle · 01/06/2012 09:21

Yes. It is mainly when referring to fashions that come and go - mine was popular in the 80's-90's.

quirrelquarrel · 01/06/2012 09:27

People always say nice things about mine :-)
It's French and short. I like it on other people.
