My sister is Ophelia and generally gets called Phelia or Phe or cutesy family nicknames like wee phee, phelie wheelie etc etc. She always been complimented on her name... I think its beautiful x

Have you read The Wonderful O by James Thurber? O is outlawed and, amongst other things, a woman called Ophelia Oliver suffers a decline in popularity!

In truth, I like the name. I would probably shorten it to Phelia or Phe.

I know one who goes by her full name. Lovely name!

I know a little Ophelia who generally goes by the full version or an unrelated nickname. Very cute.

I got the complete wrong end of the stick about this - read the title and came on to say "Balls".

Not sure if this says more about me or the name though, but maybe something you should consider, as it was the first thing that popped into my head. Blush

I know one woohoo goes by felix or fi, I love it :)

WetTheMogwai · 01/06/2012 09:53

Lol at woohoo, damn autocorrect! I ment who!

shoobidoo · 01/06/2012 10:39

The one I know goes by her full name. Why worry about a nickname, Ophelia sounds beautiful and rolls off the tongue easily imo.

octaviarose · 01/06/2012 20:23

Thanks for all the positive comments I love Ophelia too and hope it wouldn't be shortened but there always seems to be nicknames somewhere and just wondered what they would be.

I read a book with an Ophelia who was known as Feely. It was set in the 20s though... at first I thought it was a bit of an odd nickname but when I got used to it I liked it.
