DP is Persian and has suggested Cyrus for a boy. Interested to know what people think of it?

I like Cyrus.
But in cheesy 90's Nic Cage action film Con Air the main bad guy is called 'Cyrus the Virus'...which would put me off as it's a well loved film in my circle of geeky friends (don't let that put you off)!

I think it's a great name. Cy is a cool nickname too.

I like it though and she will be old news in a couple years so ge us fine

It sounds different, easy got e erypne to pronounce and good enough for a board room too (which was our criteria!)

Yes I think Cy is a pretty cool nickname.

Not concerned about the Miley Cyrus link. DP's family live in Iran so doubt they have even heard of her. The name will also mean a lot to them.

Cyrus is lovely - classic, strong but underused! Great choice imo.

Love it. It was in the final two names for DS2 (and the other only won due to being a family name).

my youngest is called this love it :) cos its so unusual.

I like it. But I prefer Darius but he was a Mede not a Persian

Darius still reminds me of the singer and I can't stand him. Shame as it is a nice name.

None of the negative connotations put me off Cyrus and it works well in both languages so I think it may be a contender.
