Fred and Barney?

Have a Fred, DS2 due in 4wks and DH and I dont agree on any names at all! I love Barnaby (Barney) but DH says they will forever be called the Flintstones kids -although he likes the name and it's the only one on my list that I might be able to sway him on. Can we get away with it or would we be mad?!?!?!

I like Barnaby!

Fuzzywood · 24/05/2012 21:27

Sorry but first thing that came to mind was Flinstone and Rubble. Might be my age but I think a lot of 30+ would think the same.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 24/05/2012 21:31

Yaba-dabba-don't!

StrawberryRoan · 24/05/2012 21:34

The Flintstones comes to mind immediately. I wouldn't do it. There are much nicer names out there than Barney too,

AThingInYourLife · 24/05/2012 21:39

:o @ Silly

Fuzzywood · 24/05/2012 21:44

arf Grin at Beardy

Jubilcece · 24/05/2012 21:50

Only do it if you are oblivious to the sniggers that will follow.

What other names do you like?

MrsAmos · 25/05/2012 09:05

Thanks all, think I just needed a reality check from other people! Very funny DaddyMan - you had DH laughing out loud! Back to the drawing board....boys names are so hard!

I think consensus is a no on this one!

Of the Fred's / Freddie's and Barney's / Barnaby's I know of they have brothers called Milo, George, Arthur and Alfie.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 25/05/2012 11:11

Not sure if Fred and George is any better! Unless they're twins. And ginger. And magic Grin

Booette · 25/05/2012 12:51

I must be slow on the uptake today as I didn't even notice till you put Flintstones. Mind you I have a Barney, and I completely forgot about the Flintstones, and Barney in the Simpsons when I named him!

Is the Flintstones even shown anymore? I don't know if kids would make the connection, but adults probably will.

They're both lovely names though.

landofmakebelieve · 16/06/2012 22:52

Sorry to say, but I instantly thought of Fred and Barney from the Flintstones, too!

Staceisace · 16/06/2012 22:54

I thought of the Flintstones when I read the thread title. Maybe if you had other children (as long as you didn't call them Wilma or Betty or Pebbles or Bam Bam...) it wouldn't seem as obvious?

takingiteasy · 16/06/2012 22:55

I think it's lovely!

Clary · 16/06/2012 22:56

I like littlecherublegs suggestions Grin

I know a Fred with a brother called Arthur, and another with a brother called Alfie!

Stanley, Sidney, Angus or Edward?

Clary · 16/06/2012 22:57

I met a Pebble recently and she mentioned the Flintstones but I just thought WTAF???

Her brother was calle Tom or James or something

takingiteasy · 16/06/2012 22:58

Bambam?
