Cash or Blue? Well, interesting choices.

Lunarlyte · 22/05/2012 22:18

The names aren't suited to my personal tastes, but I am aware of research into boys names that has ained to identify which ones are appealing to females. Apparenty, single syllable names are what you need to bestow boys with to get lucky! Cash and Blue certainly fulfil that criteria Wink

DottieRose · 22/05/2012 22:18

Cash.....but possibly as a nn for something else!

BigHairyFlowers · 22/05/2012 22:23

Not my cup of tea... Blue sounds a little like a cat's name to me. I agree with Cash as a nickname, could be tricky to carry off?

poppydaisy · 22/05/2012 22:23

Cash? Like Money? I think I prefer Blue. Isn't Jamie Oliver's son called Blue?

MrsFaffnBobbocks · 22/05/2012 22:39

No. Boo Bear or something.

I think Cash as a nn only. And Blue as a mn or nn.

No and No. The child will have 10 shades of hell ripped out of it at school.

What other options do they have?

PercyFilth · 22/05/2012 23:48

I thought of Cash Asmussen (a very successful US-born jockey). On checking it out it seems he changed his name himself to Cash from .... Brian Keith. :o

lisaro · 22/05/2012 23:56

Do they not like any real names? Poor little thing.

MadameMessy · 23/05/2012 00:05

No. Terrible.
Blue is a colour, not a name. Similarly, Cash is not a name, it is a surname and a nn for money.
What's wrong with a nice normal James or something? Why the need to inflict something so original mental on your child?

Mama1980 · 23/05/2012 07:11

These are the two they have narrowed it down to-sister just asked that I canvas opinion as they really love both but don't want him to suffer because of a name iyswim. They are pretty set on one of the two but intents to give William as a middle name which he could then use when older if he wants.

I know a girl called Blue.

SodoffBaldrick · 23/05/2012 07:56

These are niche names. Most people wouldn't - well, haven't - chosen them for their own children, so make of that what you will.

RighteousDude · 23/05/2012 07:58

Words not names

LemonTurd · 23/05/2012 07:59

Why not

William Cash
William Blue?

LemonTurd · 23/05/2012 08:00

I think they'd work as middle names, but not first names.

The singer Adele's full name is Adele Laurie Blue Adkins. I like that.

BillyBollyBandy · 23/05/2012 10:34

Beyonce's daughter is Blue

abbypumpkin · 23/05/2012 11:51

Blue seems to be being used for girls at minute and I'm sure there will be many more since beyonce so maybe cash. Although not usual cash is not weird and I can def see people getting to really like it once they hear it a few times.

poppydaisy · 23/05/2012 12:20

Actually, there are enough little Wills/Williams out there already, so I'm all for encouraging name variety. How about Barnaby or Bartholomew, nickname Blue?

I have never heard Blue as a girls name - doesns't sound very feminine to me.

PercyFilth · 23/05/2012 15:59

The girl who played Lyra in 'The Golden Compass' was called Dakota Blue Something (was it Richards?) anyway it was her real name, not a stage name, so people have been using it as a middle name for a while.

I think Cash is quite cool, myself. But as I said, have had long exposure to the name because of the jockey.

MacaroniPie · 25/05/2012 14:49

Both just dreadful. Incredibly try-hard. Blue is a dog's name. Cash is revoltingly crass.
