Calla?

I came across this name in a baby names book and like the sound of it. Think it comes from the Calla lily. Does it sound like a proper name, though, or just one I could have conjured up in my head?! Does anyone know any Callas?

No sure, think Cally would be better imho.

As a child my sister had a good friend named Calla. It sounded fairly outlandish at the time but now I like it, it fits in with Cora etc.

My first cousin had a baby (now 3y) named Kalla (with 2 dots on the first a for pronunciation in Finnish), but it's pronounced Calla and she chose it because she loves flowers and calla lily's are her fave. The middle name is Lia (after a grandmother) and she liked that Kalla Lia sounds similar to Calla Lily. I think Calla is a lovely name.

I like Calla, also Cally. What about Della or Carla as alternatives with a similar sound?

No it doesn't sound like a proper name at all. I thought of the Welsh word the first time I heard it.
