the name Elsa for a girl? We have Swedish family background hence the spelling and a Swedish last name, but we are English living in Greater London. Your thoughts please...

I like it.

iliketea · 20/05/2012 20:54

Love it. Simple, easy to spell, works in lots of different languages. It was one of my choices till I realised the intial wouldn't work with our surname.

BenderBendingRodriguez · 20/05/2012 20:54

Love it. Was my first pick for DD before she was born, but DH said no Angry

peachypips · 20/05/2012 20:55

Very pretty. Go for it. Sounds elegant!

taczilla · 20/05/2012 20:55

I love it I know one with a Finnish mother. It is a lovely and international name. The one I know also happens to be sweet which endears me to the name.
My dd has a soft name ha the irony.

Stellan · 20/05/2012 20:56

Better than Elsie, very pretty and cute but a bit insubstantial as a given name, in my opinion. Also, a bit too trendy for my own tastes.

I am not sure what you mean about being Swedish and hence the spelling - surely there isn't any other way to spell it?

YouFloatLikeAFeather · 21/05/2012 08:44

Elsa is very pretty, I like it a lot

emmyloo2 · 21/05/2012 08:45

I like it a lot. I know a baby Elsa, whose mother is Swedish.

BikeRunSki · 21/05/2012 08:46

Lovely.

3littlebadgers · 21/05/2012 08:57

It's V pretty but also I think it is a name that grows up well. You aren't going to end up with a grown up DD with a toddlers name.

lollystix · 21/05/2012 10:44

Lovely. Go for it.

Positiveplus · 21/05/2012 12:38

I quite like it and its not very popular here at the mo.
I do know a baby Elsie though.
Also like Rosa.

diddl · 21/05/2012 12:40

Fantastic!

Psammead · 21/05/2012 12:40

Very pretty, international name.

MarySA · 21/05/2012 12:45

It sounds a lovely name. Very pretty and not used a lot.

Gingerbreadlatte · 21/05/2012 13:08

On my list for sure for DC2. Its lovely

Sorry to hijack- does it sound too similar to Ella? (another family member witht that name

winkle2 · 22/05/2012 23:30

Love it

MoonlightandRoses · 23/05/2012 00:08

Yes, it is lovely, very pretty and, as others have said suits both a child and a grown-up.
Have you read Born Free? That was my first introduction to the name.

CakeBump · 23/05/2012 09:58

Lovely. I know an Elsa in her 20s, she's stunning and a really nice girl.

Go for it!

mrsshears · 23/05/2012 10:04

This one one of my first choices up until recently as i predict a surge in popularity, quite a few threads on here regarding Elsa recently,if popularity isnt an issue then i would go for it,its a lovely name.

DesperatelySeekingDistraction · 23/05/2012 11:00

Like it. I had Ilsa on the list for DD2 but DH wasn't as keen, and thought it was too similar to DD1's name.
