Does this make me look nuts?

Friend's DSs are James and Lucas.

My DS is Jamie and I want Luke for DS2.

We also have a girl each with completely different names.

She is my best friend's sister, so don't see her all the time. I do see best friend every week though and have a lot to do with the family.

Know you can't 'own' a name but...

I think that's fine. I am normally on the no side of the name stealing debate but think it's different when it's a friend of a friend. You just have the same taste.

Trestle · 19/05/2012 08:38

It's fine :)

They are popular names and no, one person cannot own a name.

That said, I wouldn't like it if someone 'took' my daughters names. That's how I'd feel if you were my best friends sister (sorry, but I'm being brutally honest!)

Marmalert · 19/05/2012 12:32

No, honest is good!

Yeah a bit mad I think. But it would only really be remarked on once probably.

I would say no, on the grounds that it is such a popular name there are several Lukes in each class around here.

Marmalert · 19/05/2012 13:06

Hmmm. This would be easier if DH would approve of any other name. That said, I will be doing the registering so I could call him what I like.

hi

no its not nuts you can have whatever name you want its your baby x

As a person who has "stolen" a name I think it's fine. They aren't the same names, they are just similar.

I did speak to the original owner of DSs name though, just to say we really liked it and were intending to use it. Our DSs are years apart in age, don't live in the same city and TBH I'm not sure if they will even ever meet!
