Dh talked names - what do you think!

We have spent so long ttc no5, that dh usually avoids the topic of names aprt from the odd comment here and there, but today he actually gave me a few names he likes/loves!
This is the list!

Susan (long agreed as on a list)
Elsa
Morag
Josephine (can't do as we have a relation with the name)
Esther (love this)
Mary
Jane

Leonard
Tobias (no from me)
Hershel (knew this one already - never sure of it)
Wilfred (no, surprised from him, he doesn't like old man names)
Desmond (like but doesn't fit with other dc)
Samuel
Julius (love this!!)

Although we are pretty set on a bits name, still nice to have a list from him!
So, opinions on dh's list!
I can live with most of them, and a few I knew already, but quite good I think!)

like mary and jane, not susan but like susie or susannah

only like julius and samuel, though every other boy seems to be either samuel or ben!

Morag - quite like this
Josephine - like, pity you can't use it. How about Juliet, Joanna, Julia, Jennifer?

Mary - OK
Jane - plain

Leonard - OK
Tobias - a bit pretentious
Hershel - don't like
Wilfred - too old man
Desmond - Des Lynam
Samuel - like
Julius - like, also Julian, Jerome, Jeremiah

Susan - No, she was the worst of the Desperate Housewives.
Elsa - Boring, overused
Morag - Ugly
Esther - Also ugle
Mary - Like
Jane - Like

Leonard - He'd be 'Leo' I expect, so overused
Tobias - gag
Hershel - No!
Wilfred - Kind of like, actually, plus you have the option of 'Will' or 'Fred' from it
Desmond - No, no no
Samuel - Nice, but common
Julius - Not a fan

Love Susan (feminine and underused these days!), Mary, Julius and Leonard (but Leo is indeed quite widely used already). I have never met a Hershel, Desmond or Morag - but I can't see anything 'wrong' with them, I just don't have any associations .
With it being your fifth child, have you considered Quentin (derived from Latin for fifth)?

Samuel or Elsa

I really like Esther from the girls list. Susan is nice too and you hardly hear children being named it these days. Not really very keen on any from the boys list I'm afraid.

Susan (long agreed as on a list) - a list of what? baby names you shouldn't use would be my advice .
Elsa - pretty
Morag - cow
Josephine - I don't like it
Esther - awful
Mary - plain, dull, boring
Jane - really, really boring

Leonard - to quote TBBT - 'I hate my name. It has nerd in it. Len-nerd'.
Tobias - lovely
Hershel - no. just no.
Wilfred - fine, but a bit overused
Desmond - no
Samuel - nice
Julius - ok, but prefer Jude

(Leonard goes on to say he wishes his name was Angelo, as it has Angel and Jello in it, maybe add that to your list?)

Susan -- can't warm to it - I just know too many, all about my age
Elsa -- love
Morag -- the only one I know really, really hates her name and always has because it has the syllable 'rag' in it
Josephine -- love; sorry you can't use
Esther -- love
Mary -- love
Jane -- a bit self consciously plain

Leonard -- prefer Leo though Lenny is nice imo as a nn
Tobias -- like
Hershel -- love
Wilfred -- too old mannish for my taste
Desmond -- strange name for a baby imo. V popular amongst middle aged Irish men when I was younger

I only like one name- actually love it! Morag.
I had a hamster, Morag. Thick brown coat, not very affectionate, good at burrowing. I would choose the name again.

I love Jane. Simple & elegant. Hershel is stunning.
How do you feel about Helena?

I love love love Mary, Esther and Josephine. Classic, classy names.

His boys names arent great. Samuel is lovely but VERY popular.

Love Esther and Leonard.

Love Mary too. It's DD's middle name & I know a very beautiful baby called Mary too.

DD2 was almost an Elsa (eventually decided against because too similar to Dd1's name) so love that, and like Esther. Susan, Mary and Jane are too boring, other two are fine, no strong feelings either way.

Like Tobias, love Hershel, not fussed about the others.
