-ma M.... doesn't flow too well.

Apart from that - its a pretty name but I'm afraid Cosima sounds like she belongs in a seraglio to me

jaffacakehips · 16/05/2012 20:15

Just in case anyone isn't sure it's pronounced KO-zi-ma. You can also have Cosma which is a variant of Cosima. However I'm pretty sure everyone will think it's just the wrong spelling.

A seraglio...Hmm Grin However you do make a good point with regards to Ma M.....etc. Will sound it out aloud and up the stairs.

Cosima Miliband - not keen due to the M issue.

Serena?

DottieRose · 16/05/2012 20:32

DottieRose · 16/05/2012 20:34

I don't think the M thing is an issue

makes me think of nigella lawson's daughter.

ripsishere · 17/05/2012 10:04

I really like it despite the bloody little madam that teased DD mercilessly and was called Cosima.

Mummyinggnome · 17/05/2012 10:12

Love it.
Cosima Wagner - ie composer's wife.

PercyFilth · 17/05/2012 10:18

I think it's prn like a bit like 'gossamer'. I don't like it. Sounds a bit pretentious unless you're Italian.

VeronicaSpeedwell · 17/05/2012 10:27

I've always really liked it, though if I were considering it seriously I might start wondering how I felt about the possible 'Cossie' nickname, which would recall swimming trips in the 80s for me. That might not be a bad thing Grin.

sparkle12mar08 · 17/05/2012 10:39

Nigella Lawson's daughter is Cosima and is always known as Mimi now.

squoosh · 17/05/2012 11:18

I quite like it. Far better than all those other Greek names that do the rounds on here, Persephone, Appollonia etc.

minervaitalica · 17/05/2012 12:02

Ehm, actually I am Italian and Cosima is simply not a very pretty name... It's a "grandmother's" name, and not in a good way. Think "Enid". I suppose it's a bit more popular in the South, but then there there is more of a tradition of naming children after their GPs anyway.

There are plenty of pretty Italian names if you are so inclined though!

ripsishere · 17/05/2012 12:02

DDs acquaintance was known as Cozy by her (German) family if that's any help.

jaffacakehips · 17/05/2012 22:20

Thanks for the feedback...Smile DH isn't convinced.

Pretentious you say...I say clearly she has flamboyant mother parents Grin I really couldn't give a monkeys about names being pretentious. won't tell you that I also really like India Wink It's either too posh or too chavtastic, haha!

TinkerMaloo · 18/05/2012 08:49

I would go with your DH... I just dont like it, sorry.

ComposHat · 19/05/2012 00:16
