Associations. I didn't mean to sound like the policeman from 'Allo 'Allo Grin

I have a Francesca and she always gets lovely comments about her name. We call her Frankie and when she's an old lady she can be Fran. It's a classic name that's not too common imo.

Sarcalogos · 13/05/2012 14:41

Lovely name. Goes well with Lucia.

Takver · 13/05/2012 14:46

Its a lovely name, I've also known one with nick name Chessie (sp? - but it sounds very pretty)

BBQJuly · 13/05/2012 15:07

I don't really like Francesca or the nicknames Fran or Cesca. Might be because of someone I once knew though! Frances is a nice alternative IMHO.

PestoPenguin · 13/05/2012 18:57

Lovely name, very nice

CremeEggThief · 13/05/2012 20:41

I love it! I would be a PITA and forbid anyone to shorten it though. I much prefer full names.

CremeEggThief · 13/05/2012 20:42

I also think it goes very well with Lucia.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 13/05/2012 20:44

Lovely name.I wouldn't let it be shortened either, it's far too beautiful. As creme said you just have to pull anyone if they try to shorten it.

newgirl · 13/05/2012 20:48

lovely name and i dont know any others - great choice

NadiaWadia · 13/05/2012 23:44

I love Francesca. For some reason, though, I find Frances quite dull.

SodoffBaldrick · 14/05/2012 03:42

I like Francesca. Fran is not good though.

I have a Francesca so love it, dont like Fran though ,but she gets Frankii alot from her friends, I also picked the name so it could look like a mans name for adult life

rachel234 · 14/05/2012 09:21

Beautiful name - elegant, classy and not overused. You could shorten to Fran, Franny, Franci or Frankie.

rachel234 · 14/05/2012 09:22

Although I don't think you'd need to shorten it at all - Francesca sounds lovely and rolls off the tongue easily enough.

GoPoldark · 14/05/2012 11:12

Lovely, I know one who is shortened to Chesca

Runoutofideas · 14/05/2012 12:52

Lovely name - I know one with siblings Lucia and Gabriella. Her name is generally shortened to Chess, or Chessie. I seriously considered it for dd2 but as our surname starts with F, I was a bit scared of Frankie F** sounding a bit "end of the pier comedian-y"!

ViolaCrayola · 14/05/2012 14:52

Love it - on our longlist for DD. I like Frankie and Chesca as nicknames.

PacketOfBiscuits · 14/05/2012 15:18

Frankie is nicer than Fran or Cesca.

CremeEggThief · 14/05/2012 16:05

I agree Frankie is the best of the nicknames, but I would still insist on Francesca! :)

milkymocha · 14/05/2012 16:22

My name is Francesca and i really like it but, i get called Franki by almost everyone which i also like!
I went through primary school being called Fran Angry but ensured to introduce myself as Franki at secondary school.
My ds1 has Francis as his middle name and my ds2 has Frank as his :)

(Francis/Frances is a family name hense my commitment Grin)

I have a Francesca, and naturally I like it. Our Francesca goes with our Luca (ds) so only one letter out from your Lucia :o

Ours is usually called Frankie, sometimes Franca, Chesca occasionally. Or sometimes Frankie-chesca!

headfairy · 14/05/2012 16:26

forgot to add, ds sometimes calls her Frenchy... :o
