My friend's son is Devon, I really like it :)

abbypumpkin · 06/05/2012 19:09

It's quite American I think and unisex there. It's a perfectly fine name as long as you don't live there!

HillyWallaby · 06/05/2012 19:12

The only Devons I know of are boys.

Geranium3 · 06/05/2012 19:13

Bit naff for a 1st name imo but q nice tucked away as a middle name!

thegreylady · 06/05/2012 19:20

It would have been dgd's name if she had been a boy! The only celeb I can think of is Devon malcolm the cricketer.

DialsMavis · 06/05/2012 19:25

I know a boy Devon, he is gorgeous

BitchyHen · 06/05/2012 19:31

I know a girl Devon. If you like the name then go for it. It's unusual but she won't have to spell it out all the time.

I've known a few Devons and Devins, some girls and some boys. My younger sister is a Devon, but has gone through a lot of nicknames as she doesn't like it much. She often got put down as a boy at school, or having calls to the teacher that 'his' mother was there.

MyPetMonsterAndMe · 06/05/2012 21:52

I know several female Devan's (I'm Canadian, if that makes a difference) and all have the 'a' spelling.

Sophiesmummie · 06/05/2012 22:12

I know a Devon - he's 8 and his name suits him!

MummysLittleSunbeams · 06/05/2012 22:37

Oooo one of my mn friends has a 2 yo Devon, I'll direct her over here.

HillyWallaby · 07/05/2012 04:06

My goodness - I knew it was a bit of a trendy name in some circles at the moment but I had no idea there was so many of them!

EmpressOfTheSevenVagines · 07/05/2012 04:13

Newtothisstuff · 07/05/2012 06:04

sashh · 07/05/2012 08:45

CallMeAl · 07/05/2012 10:56

I only know boys with this name.

Cacacaz · 07/05/2012 11:08

My 2 year old nephew is Devon.

A friend had a teenage niece called Devyn.

Bubbaluv · 07/05/2012 11:14

Devon is a pressed meat here, so I would find it hard to get past that. Kind of like calling a child Mortadella.

MrsPlanB · 07/05/2012 14:09

I know a Devon and a Devin - both boys.
