I don't know any Franklins, but I think it would make a refreshing change from all the Finns and Jacks around. Like the fact that it has meaning to you. So I say Yes!

evamummy · 06/05/2012 16:31

And Frankie is a cute nickame.

tammytoby · 06/05/2012 16:33

You both love the name, it has meaning to your and it is a classic, underused name. Why not? Agree that Frankie is a nice nickname.

It's awful I'm afraid.Ugly and harsh.Fine as a middle name,but not as a first.

Sophiesmummie · 06/05/2012 16:42

I quite like it.

Boothie · 06/05/2012 16:46

I haven't heard anyone with the name before, but now you have suggested it, i think it's nice.

I think Frank is better. The "lin" ending sounds feminine to me like the name Lynn.

DerbysKangaskhan · 06/05/2012 17:25

Nice. It's my DS2's first name. I like it, have had nothing but compliments, and it meant a lot to both sides of the family (my grandfather and my DH's grandmother's father. When we told her this was on our list her eyes lit up in excitement that made it pretty much the only choice). Also our older DC liked it and could say it easily and clearly which was another factor for us.

PercyFilth · 06/05/2012 17:56

Lynn is also a man's name, so it doesn't automatically sound feminine to me.

nocluenoclueatall · 06/05/2012 18:12

Love it! It's on our list for DC2 as well... it's got two great nicknames, tonnes of history and character and is totally under used. Do it!

BBQJuly · 06/05/2012 19:14

How many male Lynns have you met Percy?

PercyFilth · 06/05/2012 19:37

Well I went to school with one and one of my cousins is married to another. There was also an Olympic athlete called Lynn Davies. I grant you it is more poular in Wales than in England.

Sophiesmummie · 06/05/2012 23:08

I prefer Franklin to Frank. It sounds more solid and manly imo.

AlexanderSkarsgardIWould · 07/05/2012 15:45

As a name by itself I quite like it, but it makes me think of the psychopathic vampire in True Blood...But he is just a minor character in a moderately sucessful TV show nobody will remember in ten years' time.
