I think that George and Theo have a great ring to them, go really well together :)

George and Arthur just makes me think of 2 old codgers playing shuffleboard, and I'm afraid I dont like Hugo.

My ds is Alistair and if I ever had a 2nd ds I would call him George, I love it

Thanks. I think if I was a 15 year old boy I would prefer to be called Hugo or Theodore than Arthur...although I think arthur is cute for a little baby. I just think long term a teenage boy or even a 25 year old guy may not love the name Arthur!!

Don't like Theo but Theodore or Teddy are lovely and like Hugo.
What about Edward or Ralph?

YouFloatLikeAFeather · 05/05/2012 14:29

I like all of them - I do agree about Arthur being cute for a little boy, and fine for an old man, but I can't really see a teenager or man in his 20s/30s called Arthur.

I think Hugo is the best, then Theodore (Ted or Theo).

By the way George is a great name!

How about Henry? I also have a real soft spot for Rupert.

QuestionTime · 05/05/2012 14:32

No advice but just wanted to say that they are our 3 choices as well!!

monkeymoma · 05/05/2012 14:34

like them all, like Hugo best

tunaday · 05/05/2012 17:42

Love Theodore and Hugo but not mad about Arthur.

BBQJuly · 05/05/2012 17:46

Theodore (Theo), definitely! :)

Arthur too old man, Hugo too poncetastic.

nizlopi · 05/05/2012 20:02

Arthur :) I'd love to use it for any future sons, but its the name of an ex, so I can't really!

EmmaCate · 06/05/2012 10:20

Arthur or Theo, not Hugo at all. I think Theo sounds best with George. Arthur and George sounds a little too stodgy.

theroseofwait · 06/05/2012 10:27

Not keen on Theo but love Arthur and Hugo. I also like Edward, William and Freddie, and I have a George Edward and a Hugo William to prove it!!

emmyloo2 · 06/05/2012 12:06

seems like an even split, but laughing at "poncetastic". My new favourite word!!

theroseofwait - your sons have fabulous names! I wanted to call our George Edward but my DH preferred George. I love Frederick (Freddie) as well.

Thanks emmyloo - and you have excellent taste!! Keep us informed. . . . .!!!

If I ever managed to negotiate a DC3 with DH, and he was a DS, he would be a Freddie but it would be a nn for Alfred (my dad's name.)

He hated it and was known as Colin for most of his life, he would laugh his socks off if he could see how popular Alfie has become!!!

Mabinogi · 06/05/2012 19:51

I like them all, although I don't think Hugo goes quite as well with George.

Arthur is probably my favourite. He could go by Art if he didn't like it...

PestoPenguin · 06/05/2012 19:54

Theo is adorable, Hugo is lovely. Arthur not so much, sorry.

nkf · 06/05/2012 19:56

All lovely.

EdithWeston · 06/05/2012 19:56

All three are great! I'd probably go for Hugo.

birdofthenorth · 06/05/2012 20:05

Putting Theodore at the end of a list of three reminds me of The Chipmunks! Alvin, Simon, Theodore! Just me? Sorry!

Really like Arthur and Theodore (prefer Ted to Theo but both nicknames are lovely). For some reason Hugo does sound posh & wet to my ears, sorry. I am Oop North though if that makes a difference!

takethatlady · 06/05/2012 23:02

So with you on the chipmunks.

Arthur and George is also the title of a Julian Barnes novel. You might not mind that, but best you know!
