Can I use Raphael with a surname beginning with F?

So, DH and I have a short surname beginning with F (think, for example, Finn).
I love the name Raphael for our DS (due in 8 weeks). But obviously it will be shortened to Raffy or Rafa and I'm just not sure this goes well with an F surname e.g. Raffy Finn? It's a bit fff-y.

Other names we currently like, but not enough to agree on are Alexander (too popular round here), Benjamin (not sure), and Nicolas (current other front runner, NN Nico). MN will be Edward.

If you don't think Raphael works, could you make some other suggestions?

No, I think Raf/Raffy Finn is too fff-y.

If it is an Fi surname,like Finn, then it's too FF-y but raffy Ford or raffy Feltz sounds fine,it's the fi fi sound that makes it too fff-y

OK if he's called by his full name but I agree a bit FFy if shortened. I love the name though. Nicolas and Benjamin work well too imo. I do love Gabriel for a boy and think that's on the same lines as Raphael and works well with a short F surname.

Thanks for the list bbq, I like some of the names on there but DH has vetoed some. He's very anti-overtly-biblical names. I like Gabriel too, tuna but hate the shortening Gabe so I don't think I will use that. Jonathan, Edward and Harry are all family names so out of the running (except as MN).
I'm glad some of you like Nico, I think I might try this on DH again (he's not too sure).

Yes I'd rule out Raphael / Raffy etc.
Nico is pretty cool though!
