Honest opinions on this name please, my DH suggestion but I am not sure especially about what nn might go with it. I am trying to avoid the very popular Millie.

Sounds like a skin complaint. Sorry.

LidlVoice · 29/04/2012 20:22

Horrible, sorry. Sounds like you've cobbled two names together to make one.

emsyj · 29/04/2012 20:26

Love Emilia - but Emiliana sounds too much and reminds me of banana.

Rindercella · 29/04/2012 20:29

Emilia lovely. Emmeline also lovely. Your DH's suggestion just awful.

boyfallingoutofthesky · 29/04/2012 20:34

No, too much, but Eliana is nice and a bona fide name (Hebrew I think). Emilia is OK, but v popular at the moment if you combine all the Amelia variants.

BBQJuly · 29/04/2012 21:14

It's a bit OTT - I prefer Emma, Emilia, Emily, Emmeline.

FrauGrau · 29/04/2012 21:16

You made this up!!

badtime · 30/04/2012 11:17

I actually like names like this (Juliana, Luciana, Georgiana etc.) and they are real names, but they are a bit much to saddle someone with if one is not actually time-travelling to the 18th century. I think the full version would never actually be used, so there is not much point.

kerala · 30/04/2012 13:56

Sounds fussy and abit silly. Sorry.

shoobidoo · 30/04/2012 13:58

I love the sound of Emiliana, just like I love Tatiana or Juliana etc. but I would worry about the nicknames Emmy, Ellie as there are so, so many of them around already.

AceOfBase · 30/04/2012 14:03

Melina? Emiliana is a bit too fussy and i usually love those kind if names. It doesn't sound right

lisaro · 30/04/2012 14:14

Sounds far too frilly and made up.

Montsti · 30/04/2012 14:39

I love it! Nicknames: Emmy/Ana/Milly (or Emmie/Anna/Millie!)...

Prefer Emilia to Emiliana but not keen on Amelia (weird I know!) and know it would be annoying correcting everyone so think Emiliana is a good alternative. Sounds like I'm in the minority though!

PercyFilth · 30/04/2012 14:47

No, it isn't made up, it's Italian.

But it's a bit of a mouthful, and if you're trying to avoid Millie and other overpopular names, I would go for something completely different.

PlayEatSleep · 30/04/2012 14:49

Don't like it, sorry.

goingtoofast · 30/04/2012 14:49

Too much of a mouthful.

Geranium3 · 30/04/2012 17:32

sounds like a mamas and papas pram, sorry!

ToryLovell · 30/04/2012 17:37

Sounds a bit too fussy IMO.

And will probably be shortened to Millie!

Sandalwood · 30/04/2012 17:53

How's that going to avoid 'Millie' then?

Sounds too fussy. Like fussier versions of Emily or Amelia.

Doitnicelyplease · 30/04/2012 18:28

Not to keen, but can I suggest Eliana - similar name but rolls off the tongue easier? Or even Emily Ann for a less fussy sounding version?

LovelyLovelyWine · 30/04/2012 20:24

No.

Emmeline is lovely.
Emilia is OK.
Lana?

Emiliana is fussy and sounds made up.

KlickKlackknobsac · 30/04/2012 20:31

don't do it.

Go for Kate.
Or Jane.
Or Helen.

No. no. no. It sounds like a pair of cheap candlesticks from the grattan catalogue.

helptheresababyonmyleg · 30/04/2012 22:06

Against popular opinion I actually really like it! I think it sounds Italian.
I dont like it sound made up.

I think there are prettier "Em" variants that don't sound so... OTT. I think Emma is a lovely name.
