Ok everyone. First post on here. Want opinions of choice of three names for baby boy due to be born by ECS this Friday. Child no 3. Three names we like are Rupert, Xander or Lysander. DH and I do like names that are slightly different without being too weird. Being a Claire I loathed being one of loads and longed for a more exotic name! Other two DC are Tabitha and Rafferty.

I like Xander best :)

keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 28/04/2012 22:44

I like Rupert best out of those 3!

Dolcegusto · 28/04/2012 22:46

Xander.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/04/2012 22:48

Love Rupert. Hate Xander. Lysander better than Xander but not a patch on Rupert.

applepieinthesky · 28/04/2012 22:48

Xander

threeleftfeet · 28/04/2012 23:37

Xander :)

birdofthenorth · 28/04/2012 23:42

Xander. Like your other DCs names btw

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 28/04/2012 23:44

Rupert by a longshot if I had to pick from only those 3

DeadRisingPies · 28/04/2012 23:45

Rupert - and I guess the Murdoch association will soon be forgotten (if not the bear one, which doesn't necessarily matter).

MissPricklePants · 28/04/2012 23:45

Lysander is my fave out of your choices, but they are all great.

FebreezeYourJeans · 28/04/2012 23:53

Xander, not Rupert - it's a PITA to have the same initials as one of your siblings

HolyCameraConfusionBatman · 29/04/2012 01:48

Lysander is awful.

Rupert is sweet, but not with Rafferty.

Xander would be my choice of those 3, although it just seems a bit try hard.

howcomes · 29/04/2012 02:07

Xander!

sashh · 29/04/2012 06:25

I know a Xander, it's short for Alexander in his case

nooka · 29/04/2012 06:44

I like Xander as a nn but not as a name in it's own right. As Sander is one of the nns for Alexander I don't see why you couldn't use Xander for a Lysander too, although I think to be honest Lysander probably overshoots from the different into the weird. However there are parts of the UK where it would probably fit right in.

CalamityJones · 29/04/2012 06:49

I like rupert best, but rupert and tabitha together might seem like a tribute to jilly cooper. Rafferty is a fab name, by the way!

Psammead · 29/04/2012 08:33

Lysander
Then Rupert
Then Xander.

MariahScary · 29/04/2012 10:36

Xander is a bit nicknamey and underwhelming next to your other DCs (gorgeous) names, sorry.

Hate Rupert. Silly name.

Lysander is such a beautiful, under used name. And he can still be Sander or Xander if you want a nn.

SoupDragon · 29/04/2012 10:38

I hate Lysander. For some reason it seems girly to me, even though I know it is a boy's name.

WhenDoISleep · 29/04/2012 10:44

Lysander (with Xander as a nn maybe).

Frikadellen · 29/04/2012 13:49

Xander I love it.. With Rupert I just think bear I am afraid I dont mind Lysander but much prefer Xander.

PercyFilth · 29/04/2012 14:48

I like Xander, but only as a shortening for Alexander, although as already suggested it could also serve for Lysander - two birds with one stone.

I prefer Leander to Lysander though. Lysander for some reason makes me think of a lizard.

Like Rupert. Yes, there is bear and Murdoch, but also Everett phwoarr what a waste

MrsFarenheit · 29/04/2012 21:03

Thanks mumsnetters, food for thought. However, as opinions seem to be very divided between the three not sure if we are much further on!

tammytoby · 29/04/2012 21:40

But why are you keen to please a random collection of mumsnetters.... why not choose the name YOU love?

Personally I think Tabitha, Rafferty and Lysander are perfect together. All three syllables and all classic, underused, gorgeous names!

MrsFarenheit · 29/04/2012 22:24

See where your coming from tammytoby, not trying to please anyone really as like all the names and am just being (hormonally pregnant) indecisive. Not a child I was expecting to have (6 and 9 yrs after the other two)!
