DD2 Shortlist...

So I think we have a pretty definite shortlist for DD2.

Which do the lovely readers of MN prefer?

Freya Sofia
Mia Juliet (Mia is v popular here, but i have liked the name for years)
Rosa Juliet
Lara Juliet
Freya Juliet

(these are first name/middle name combos)
First one is my ongoing favourite, is not a popular or well known name here (we live overseas), also like the Italian influence on middle name as DH family is Italian/as is our surname).

DD1 is Eva, also not too popular where we are but Ava is. She has an Italian middle name and surname.

Suggestions also welcome...:)

We've just had a Freya so I'm biased! My fave is Freya Juliet I'm not sure I like the two "a" sounds of Freya Sofia but that's just personal choice. I also like Lara Juliet (Lara sounds a bit like our DD1's name otherwise it would've been on my list too!).

Other suggestions that we considered were Faye, Fleur, Lucia?

I have to say though we narrowed our list to 4 (Freya wasn't on this) but when DD2 was born she didn't look like any of them so we had to re-think. It's good to plan but don't set it in stone until you meet her!

I would go with your favourite of Freya Sofia. I like it when middle names link to family heritage, and both names are beautiful.

You have gorgeous taste.

Lara Juliet, Freya Sofia or Freya Juliet are all really fab names, just lovely. My pick would be Lara, but it is close.

thanks for the replies :)

Will ponder a bit more.

Littlepie - congrats on your Freya! I can't decide what I think about the two 'a' sounds myself, DD1 has that in her first/middle name, and it seems to work, but I know what you mean.

Just wonder if Lara & Eva together are a bit too similar sounding? I think I like the strong 'Fr' sound in Freya.

Lara and Eva sound nice together :) I like Larissa with Lara for short. Or how about Laura, or Louisa?

If you like Fr- names, how about Frances or Francesca? Sorry but I don't really like Freya.

Rosa, Juliet and Sofia all lovely. Would you consider Sofia or Juliet as first names or only middles?

Mia is pretty too. Do you like other M names - Miranda, Melissa, Maria, May, Miriam, Maisie, Mary, Mirabelle, Marina?

HoldTouchEngage · 24/04/2012 21:58

I must agree i'm not a Freay fan - i did 'think' about it when pg with ds 4 yrs ago, but it was very popular around here!

I love Eva....how about Eva and Esme?

Eva and Martha
Eva and Francesca
Eva and Susannah (Suki or Susie?)
Eva and Juliet (Juliet is LOVELY btw!)
Eva and Georgia
Eva and Madelaine
Eva and Zara
Eva and Xanthe

How would you pronounce Mia?? (mee-ah, or my-aah) i must admit to preferring the latter! After hearing a few of each..

Congrats and Good luck Smile xx

Thanks for the replies :)

BBQJuly - I am trying to stick to a shortish first name as our last name is a mouthful. I think that is why I have discounted Juliet as a first name, also wary of nicknames JuJu or Jools etc.

Sofia/Sophia - was used recently by a couple of friends, also is v v popular here.

I am keen on Lara still, but Larissa is a bit frilly/long for me, same with Francesca.

HoldTouch - Mia is definitely Mee-ah in my head

Esme is cute, but we can't do another E name (too many others in family), shame as I am fond of Etta.

Also quite like Leah, but spelled Lia.

I like Freya Juliet best. I prefer Laura or Lauren to Lara, though I do know a fabulous Lara. :)

manicinsomniac · 25/04/2012 09:36

I love Lara Juliet

I'm a bit meh about Rosa, Mia and Freya. Sofia is lovely.

What about:
Sofia Juliet
Juliet Sofia
Juliet Rose

Or, for different ideas on similar lines:
Lila, Julia, Summer, Sienna, Robyn, Rosie, Maia, Miranda.

HoldTouchEngage · 25/04/2012 11:17

Such a shame you cannot have another 'e' name as Etta is divine, i adore it! I'ds never of thought of that name!
