Is Arthur too 'old man'?

I am 39 weeks preg. This is our boy's name and was last time (but DD was a DD). And I have always really liked it, but I am having a final hour wobble... Is it too old man?

It's lovely. And it's a king's name. And I am biased...

BikeRunSki · 18/04/2012 13:38

No it's cool. I know one who is 8 and one who is 6 weeks old.

iseenodust · 18/04/2012 13:41

No. Could have Art or Arty as nn. (Thinks Art Garfunkel)

squoosh · 18/04/2012 13:45

There are many, many young Arthurs around at the moment.

TheRhubarb · 18/04/2012 13:46

Yes squoosh, too many for my liking! We had it first!

BikeRunSki, know my ds do you?

SoFarWeAreEqual · 18/04/2012 13:47

Love it. But it is enjoying a bit if a resurgence lately; there are a couple of celebrity babies called Arthur, and I know of two little boys called Arthur where I live. It may be a bit 'of the moment', but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Similar to Florence for a girl.

Art and Artie v. cute nicknames too.

sooperdooper · 18/04/2012 13:50

Cute, lots of that era of names making a comeback at the minute

McKayz · 18/04/2012 13:51

I love Arthur and Arti is a great nickname.

Flowerface · 18/04/2012 19:53

Perhaps I should have been worrying that it was too trendy rather than too old man! But thanks - this has reinforced my love for it!

I can't resist saying Arfur in the style of Olive from 'On the Buses'

thetigerwhocametoteax · 19/04/2012 21:16

We have a little Arthur who is almost two so I am biased in saying I love it Grin. I have heard it is becoming more popular but he is still the only one we have come across and we have always had nice comments about it. And yes he does call himself "Arfur"!

StealthPolarBear · 19/04/2012 21:18

no, it;s lovely.

whoknewthat · 19/04/2012 21:19

Lovely noble name Grin

HerrenatheHHHarridan · 19/04/2012 21:22

Nope, I know a mini Arthur and it doesn't seem silly on him at all.

Plus I'll bet you good money that those old men started out as little babies Grin

zuulem · 19/04/2012 22:08

We have a 1 year-old Arthur, named after his granddad, so deliberately old man! But we love it, it suits him down to the ground, and it gets lots of nice reactions.

missingmymarbles · 19/04/2012 22:11

I love it (DH vetoed but we're having a girl anyway) and I love the shortening to Arty Smile

bronze · 19/04/2012 22:12

I know a lovely arthur. I think his mum is on here

Pandygirl · 19/04/2012 22:18

Not mad keen on Arthur, but love Artie and Art, great choice!
