When I hoped we were having a girl I wanted to call her casey as love the name and it is also my grandmother's maiden name. But we now know it's a boy and looking through a baby book I found casey as a boy's name.

What do you think of it as a boy's name? Is it too girls?

I think of it as a surname.

There is a Casey in DD's nursery. She is a little girl.

Stellan · 17/04/2012 20:39

It's a bit girly.

I think it's a bit of a 'rough' name too (as it sounds like K.C. and other names like it: Ajay, Teejay, and so on).

BillyBollyBandy · 17/04/2012 20:40

Casey Affleck is Ben's younger brother?

I wouldn't presume a dc called Casey was either a boy or a girl, although do know a little girl Casey

thisisyesterday · 17/04/2012 20:41

yeah of course it is!

littlemrsmummy6 · 17/04/2012 20:42

I think it's totally fine as a boy's name. It is very popular in the USA for boys.

I think I prefer it for a boy. It's quite cool actually.

JW37 · 17/04/2012 20:58

Thanks. My husband isn't too keen but I think I like it.

I thought Casey was a boys name ( Casey Jones ). I think it's a great name.

rachel234 · 17/04/2012 21:45

I thought boys name too. Lovely name!

Booette · 17/04/2012 21:57

I always thought it was a boys name until recently. There are loads of girl Casey/Kaycee/Kaci's round here.

5madthings · 17/04/2012 22:00

it can be either, casey stoner is a motor bike rider, and its a name that dp and i both like and considered using for ours, i would use it for a boy or a girl :)

SwedishEdith · 17/04/2012 22:12

Hell yeah, it's a boy's name. "Casey Jones, a steamin' and a rollin', Casey Jones you never have to guess, when you hear the tootin' of the whistle it's Casey at the throttle of the Cannonball Express"

Shock @ Kci Grin

welovesausagedogs · 17/04/2012 22:21

Too girly

CecilyP · 17/04/2012 22:32

It seems to be more popular for girls, though could be one of those names, like Ashley, that does for both.

BikeRunSki · 17/04/2012 22:34

I know a 40 something man known as Casey, has been all his life, because his initials are KC Surname. He has been known as Casey for such a long time that we tend to forget he is actually called K.

icancount · 18/04/2012 18:44

I know a 10yr old boy Kasey.

Thefourcees · 18/04/2012 19:02

I have two boys Casey and Colby, we never really gave it any thought about it being a girls name.

LydiaWickham · 18/04/2012 19:03

Honest opinion, no.

chocolatecoffinplease · 18/04/2012 19:13

Honestly - I wouldn't.

lovechoc · 18/04/2012 19:21

I honestly think 'girls name' when I hear it. DH knows someone who's child is called Casey and I asked how old she was, and DH had to correct me and said 'actually it's a 'he''! Oh well. It's a bit like names such as Alex, Sam, etc. There's just no telling if it's a girls name or a boys name.

nizlopi · 18/04/2012 19:30

I have a friend called Cacey, he's a 27 year old man and he carries it well. He's not girly. I suppose because I associate it with him, but I see it as a boys name.

Leena78 · 19/04/2012 12:42

I like it for a boy more than a girls name and in the USA it is very normal for it to be a boy's name.
