for a girl? As a nickname for something longer like Miranda? Thoughts?

Love it - as a nickname for something like Miranda. Much nicer than Andrea (no disrespect to any Andreas).

Ir reminds me of Four Weddings and A Funeral and the actress Andie MacDowell. IMDB suggests her name is short for her middle name: Rosalie Anderson MacDowell.

It could also be short for:
Amanda
Ananda
Fernanda
Iolanda
Melisande
Miranda
Nolanda

Oooh, quite like Melisandre Scatter, I would never have thought of that! :)

That's the thing, I like Andie (and my husband is Andrew so I thought it was cute...I know, I know, probably too twee :o) but I don't like any of the things it's short for really. Miranda and Cassandra are okay. Melisandre is nice.

DH gave me a spectacular cat's bum face when I suggested Andromeda.

I'm not pregnant either, but DH needs to consider everything for a very long time so it's best to plant the ideas in his head now. :)

Oops, Melisande. I was thinking of Melisandre, the Game Of Thrones character. :)

As a nickname Andie is nice.

Not Andi, reminds me of Andi Peters. He gives me the creeps.
