Dominic/Douglas/Duncan.....

Any thoughts on the following:

Dominic
Duncan
Douglas
Cameron
Philip
Robert

We have had a right old time coming up with names that's we can both agree on. After giving hubby a list if names, these are what he ticked as being ok. They're not my first choice names, but as we seem to be the last in the family to be pregnant, and there being lots if boys, our choices have been somewhat curtailed, due to 5 boys having three names each!

We have a surname of two syllables if that helps, beginning with S and bubs' will have a family middle name of Hayes.

Cheers

in terms of personal taste, Dominic is gorgeous (and on my own very short shortlist), and Cameron is lovely too.

The others are perfectly serviceable though. Nice solid names with a history. Never been hugely fond of Douglas, but again that's really just personal taste.

Dominic Hayes Simpson
Cameron Hayes Simpson

...both lovely

Dominic is my fav

FromGirders · 14/04/2012 01:04

You're only allowed Duncan, douglas, Robert or Cameron if you are actually Scottish.

Other than that, take your pick.

:o

Quite like Dominic tbh. The only reason i would never have picked it because i went to school with someone with that name, but later on in life have come to think it's quite a nice name :)

SkipTheLightFanjango · 14/04/2012 01:14

Duncan or Dominic are the top 2 for me!

Casperette · 14/04/2012 08:48

Dominic seems to be my fav of the list too! It's not a name that I've come across at all to be honest, so am not sure as to it's wider appeal.

fromgirders we're not Scottish, English through n through! But do holiday in Scotland quite regularly, hubby having done quite a few munros in his time, does that allow us to have one as a middle name??!! wink| :o. I noticed when i was typing the list out that they were predominately Scottish themed, perhaps I need to check out the family tree a little more!! Wink:

Thanks folks!
xx

Dominic and Cameron my faves. Also Robert (because my brother is called that) and I think it's a very good name for all ages and you don't hear it much these days. Douglas, I'm not mad about. Like Duncan and Phillip but not as much as Dominic and Cameron.

Jess850 · 14/04/2012 15:37

I have a Dominic and he is just scrumptious :-)

tara0202 · 14/04/2012 15:51

I like Cameron best and its on our short list for our DS who is due in May. I am Scottish but I live in England!

I quite like Dominic but the rest are not to my taste.

WetAugust · 14/04/2012 22:22

Philip (I have one)

But yours is the first list I've seen where I love absolutely all of them.

janie2 · 14/04/2012 22:30

Duncan and Douglas for me!

Wondering if you've thought of Roddy (Roderick) seems to go with these names too and my all time fave that I wasn't allowed to use [sigh]
