Am totally stuck, everything I suggest my other half doesn't like...although the only suggestion he has come up with is Gilbert which I don't like. He has three other children with unusual/uncommon names so it can't be too run of the mill. Have suggested Felix, Oscar, Leo, Fraser and the list goes on but he just says no. Either I am going to have to kill him before the baby is born so it can have a name or just cross everything that it is a girl. Surname begins with J so trying to avoid J first names

I guess say to him that you need to sort out the names soon as its driving you mad which is not good for the baby or you. So suggest to him, that you each should write down at least 10 names you like and then go through the list together, if you think 10 is to little then got for more, you may find one on his list you like or vice versa, really though you should both like the name you choose, and you shouldnt be pushed into going with the other persons name choice just because they cant think of any more.

Your other half needs to come up with a few more ideas apart from just Gilbert, if he's going to reject all your ideas. Otherwise you're putting in all the hard work, where it should be a joint effort.

Also going on just Gilbert I have no idea what other names he might like.

If not Gilbert, Sullivan?

Amos
Asa
Asher (an Old Testament name meaning 'fortunate, blessed, happy one' - how lovely)
Cormac
Cyrus
Dashiell
Eugene (Billie Piper just named her son this)
Lionel
Reuben
Ronan
Rowan
Simeon
Tristan
Wesley
Winston

Just calmly tell him that if he wants any input into what the baby is called before you register him/her, he had better get involved - properly, not just by suggesting one name. If he doesn't, make it clear that if he leaves it too long, you'll probably have found your ideal name and won't be willing to compromise at the last minute. Whereas if he gets involved now, you're all ears :)

Thanks ladies, still no further forward with it. Apparently he expects a name to just come to him.....not sure how when I have exhausted everything I can think of plus your suggestions. I've told him that if he doesn't decide or agree on anything I will just name the baby and once you start telling people a name it tends to stick! Ha ha....on his head be it me thinks!
