Or-el-i-a??

I quite like it. I used to work with a lady who named her daughter something similar to this.

exexe · 10/04/2012 14:36

Its pronounced aw-reel-yah

thisisyesterday · 10/04/2012 14:40

FondleWithCare · 10/04/2012 14:54

CalamityLame · 10/04/2012 18:51

Pronounce it however you like! DD is called Aurelia and we pron it 'Or-ay-lee-ah', but people tell us that they know another Aurelia and it's pron differently all the time.

virgil · 10/04/2012 18:53

Ow-RAY-lee-uh. My best friend had an aunt called this.

CupOfBrownJoy · 10/04/2012 19:46

Lovely. I had a doll called Aurelia when I was little Smile

I pronounce it Or Ree Lee Ya

SodoffBaldrick · 11/04/2012 06:28

Or-ray-lee-a.

Beautiful name.

SomebodySaveMe · 11/04/2012 06:32

Love it. Really wanted this for DD but DP wasn't keen.

CoffeeMum · 11/04/2012 06:44

Hmmm, it is a beautiful name I agree, but I would worry that it's a bit of a mouthful, and I don't know, a bit formal for day-in day-out use? Does that make sense? It sounds like a character from Shakespeare or something, which is no bad thing, but I can't imagine being at the park and shouting for toddler Aurelia, or telling off a teenage Aurelia, or an adult Aurelia being an accountant, or a bar manager? Middle name perhaps?

OlaRapaceFru · 11/04/2012 06:55

I think it's a lovely name. Like a pp, it reminds me of the film, Love Actually; the Aurelia character in that film pronounced it Or-ray-lia - she was Portuguese.

But this website www.howjsay.com/index.php?word=aurelia&submit=Submit says Or-ee-lia.

Personally I prefer the Or-ray-lia pronunciation, but I don't suppose it matters which way you choose to pronounce it.

chickydoo · 11/04/2012 06:58

Oh really Yah!
( there were lots of yuppie jokes about Ir in the 80's)

Dillydollydaydream · 11/04/2012 08:05

Or ray lee yah.

It's a lovely name.

mamapower · 11/04/2012 08:32

My DD is called Aurelia and we pronounce it Or-ay-lia. IMHO different without being ridiculous. Incidentally, [bit of trivia] it was also the name of Julius ceasers mother!

PinkFondantFancy · 11/04/2012 10:13

I love it although I am biased as I know a gorgeous little Aurelia :D

DinahMoHum · 11/04/2012 10:14

I love it, and Aurelie
