Hi, I saw this name and wondered how you pronounce it. Is it Al, as in Alice or Al as is almond?

And do you like it?? [bgrin]

Oh, my grinning bunny didn't work. I'll try again. [bugrin]

I like it. My immediate thought was Al - Meena (Al as in Alice)

BehindLockNumberNine · 06/04/2012 21:18

I have no idea how you pronounce it, have tried it both ways and think it is an awful name either way, sorry...

But is the [bugrin] because you have some exciting news????

mummyloveslucy · 06/04/2012 21:21

No, I'm just thinking aloud. We are still trying. I tend to choose really strange names when PG, so I'm having a think before hand.

Do you prefere Amena, or is that awful too? I do appreciate peoples honesty.

I'd have said AL-meena

mummyloveslucy · 06/04/2012 21:24

I think it might sound a bit like Albino? Not sure how to spell that.

BehindLockNumberNine · 06/04/2012 21:44

I don't really like Amena either, sorry...

Love Alice though!

Is it Al as in Alice or Al as is almond?

No difference, surely? I did once know someone who said "awl-mund" but I've never heard anyone else pronounce it like that.

Reminds me of a Nissan Almera. Still quite nice though.

mummyloveslucy · 07/04/2012 10:09

O.k, maybe not then. Wink It doesn't seem like a good choice at all any more.

I also love Alice! It is at the top of our list. Smile

I like Philomena - not the same but a similar sound :-)

mummyloveslucy · 07/04/2012 19:53

I've never heard of that name. I quite like Wilemena.

OP posts:
BehindLockNumberNine · 07/04/2012 21:26

Is Wilemina a bona fide name? The traditional Dutch version as I know it is Wilhelmina...

DorisIsWaiting · 07/04/2012 21:31

If you like Alice but want to be different dd has the Welsh version Alys as a middle name.

UrsulaBuffay · 07/04/2012 21:33

sounds like it should be preceded by 'Nissan'
